Chapter 2

Rochelle's POV

I was a very simple, lively girl and my only dream was to become a successful doctor and fulfil my parents wishes, get happily married and have a family of my own. I am a single child of my parents and I always miss the bond people have with their siblings. I always wish to have a little sister who would be my crime partner we would go shopping together i would help her in her study, would share my feelings with her or a brother who can stand with me through thick thin or I will be his back for life but guess what God has another plans and my father's sperm didn't met my mother's egg.

But then there is a saying " When you want or really desire something from heart and soul, the universe conspires you to achieve it or make it reachable to you". I may not get the siblings but I get the love of my life, my better half, my fiance 'Richard'. He is also a doctor he was senior to me college. He graduated last year and completed his M S and M B B S and now under a hospital as a Oncologist and here I am in my last semester and doing an internship in a small charitable hospital.

I got engaged last to last month it was a small function attended by my and his close family and friends just the way I like it. Today is his day off so I am going to surprise him. It's 4 o'clock and my shift starts around 7 pm. I still have 3 hours. I took the cab and headed to bakery first to take some donuts and red velvet cake because Richard have a sweet tooth he loves eating sweets come to think of it if I left these cake and donuts to him he will finish it off all by himself. I bought the sweets put them in the cab and told the driver to drive.

I took pouches from my bed. One was of salt and the other had red chilli powder in it. I sprinkled lots of salt on a donut and red chilli powder on the cake. I just can't wait to see his reaction when he eats these.... hehe.

I reached his condo and rang the doorbell. He opened the door before I could react. I was pulled inside and hugged by him tightly. That is something new because between us he is the shy type and I might get nervous. Shyness is something I never felt in infront of anyone. Come to think of it, we haven't even shared a french kiss. He kissed my cheeks. I took the initiative but he just smacked my lips that's it. I think I am going to take charge of romance between both of us in the future.

" What happened ? " I asked.

" Nothing ! I just missed you, it's been two weeks since I last saw you." Awww he is the cutest. He just has to do these little things to make my day.

" I went to your favourite bakery and bought donuts and red velvet cake for you. Come on, let's eat ". We went to the dining table. He brought a fork knife and two plates and sat beside me. He is looking at me and I can see suspicion in his eyes.

" What ? Dig in ".

" Did you mix something in these?".

" No, why did you ask? " I quickly replied, putting a spoon full of cake in his mouth from my portion before he could think any further. He hummed and took a bite of his portion. He gulped his eyes and ran towards the kitchen. I think he had water.

" What the hell ! Rochelle '' he shouted from the kitchen. When he came back I just couldn't control my laughter. I offered the normal donut to him before tasting it by myself in front of him." See, they didn't have chilli in it. You can have them all by yourself later.

I have an hour before I have to go so what are doing my kind of stuff or your kind of boring stuff ".

" Obviously my kind of stuff Rochelle because this is my home so we are going to do what I like. I rolled my eyes. Stop rolling your eyes let's watch something interesting". I sat on the sofa while he put the discovery channel on the tv and started watching it intently. I mean yeah I love animal but one cannot watch discovery channel all the day. But as he says it's his home his way so let it be. Love is all about adjusting to your partner's will while he will adjust to your way. I think I have to take liking on this channel so we don't argue in the future. He hates arguing or fighting with me because he love me so much and it put his day and mood off. So we ended up watching Discovery for an hour. That's our usual setup. He enjoys his space and gives me space. He is not a clingy type like other boyfriends usually are.

It's already 6 o'clock Richard. I have to go to the hospital or I'll be late. It will take at least an hour to reach there. I shouted from the hall he was in his room. He came out with a bag in his hand. This is for you. My mother bought it for you from her hometown. I took the gift from him and said bye to him. I came down and realised that I forgot to book a cab. s**t.

As I was waiting for the cab I saw Aria Richard's best friend heading inside the building. Aria is a model by profession I haven't got the chance to meet her personally but what I know through Richard is she might be signing a movie soon though it's none of my business but Richard is on cloud nine when he came to know about her signing a movie, looks like best friend came to visit best friend but what's new she will also ended up watching discovery channel with him . . . haha.

I took the cab and headed to the hospital, I unwrapped the gift. It was a jewellery box. I opened the box. It has a bracelet made of shells and pearls . It has a note inside it. I opened it and read .

" Special gift for my special daughter, especially made by your grandfather for you and I chose the shells and pearls. Love You and don't forget to send me a picture when you wear it . "

The note brought a broad smile on my face. She once told me her father used to sell these jewellery by walking to different places. I met him on my engagement day he is so inspiring, he worked so hard all his life he is so inspiring from walking to the streets, to opening his own two shops he walked a long path, after Richard's fathers death, he even helped Richard's with his tuition fees and helped her daughter stand on her own feets now she runs a beauty parlour which is doing well. I opened our chatbox `` Thank you for this lovely gift and help me thank grandpa as well. I love you too. Let's meet soon. It's been a long. " I tapped the send button, she is the sweetest.

Grandpa , I liked him in our first meeting i didn't have grandparents since childhood so I never knew what it feels like to have one but after our marriage I am going to ask Richard to let me spend at least a month with him at his home once in a year and we will invite him to our place as well with richard's mother we will have a great family time which I always miss that with my parents they are always busy and if they have time i have something to do so our schedule clashes with each other all the time . I clicked a picture of the bracelet captioned " Gift from MIL and made by grandpa " and sent it to my friends group .

Ren was the first one to reply ' Someone is getting adorned already , it's so pretty elle '.

I sent the emoticon which has blushy cheeks .

After few minutes Eva's message came

" This is so pretty, how much does it cost? " Here comes my money minded friend. She thinks of money only. " Thank you and I don't ask the cost of gifts eva and you shouldn't do it either " .

I was about to reach the hospital so I put my phone back and looked in the rear view mirror to fix my hair. Now I am ready for my war.
