Chapter 33 : Clara.

739 Words
In a few moments, Ray arrived in front of a small cage. He looked inside and saw a seven to eight-year old little girl lying down. Ray felt a little familiar after seeing her face. Ray squatted down, observing her closely. "I want her." Ray said directly to the fat man next to him. "Excellent choice. Customer have good eyes indeed. She was brought here only a few days ago. She is still young and lively. She'll definitely turn into a pretty girl when she grows up. Even if you have that kind of taste...." The fat man wanted to say something more, but Ray interrupted him with a cold glance. The fat man shivered from his gaze. "I'll....take care of the paperwork. Please wait a few minutes sir." He changed his tone and said quickly. 'Phew.... he is definitely not simple.' The fat man thought in his heart. The fat man brought that little girl infront of Ray not too long after. She looked around with terror-stricken gaze. Her whole body was trembling with fear. Few deep bloody scars could be seen on her body. "Sir when she was brought up here she tried to run, so in order to tame her we had just used a little force. It'll heal soon after using some medicine. You don't need to worry about her safety." The fat manager said hurriedly, he was afraid of Ray getting angry. Ray nodded and threw a small pouch to the fat man. He became very happy after weighing the pouch. Ray took the girl outside under everyone's disgusted look inside the tavern. "These people really are shameless." A burly man smacked the table and said angrily. "What can we do? Little girl or not, once she becomes a slave. Her life is ruined forever. She'll never see the light again." An old guy lamented. "Still.... It makes me angry. How can they do this...!! She just looked seven to eight years old." "This area is controlled by the blood demon sect, even if you want to interfere, you need enough strength to speak for yourself." "If you are so righteous, then why not step up for justice. Don't keep blabbering behind the back. It's annoying." A masked guy said flatly retorting to the man who had just expressed his anger. Hearing the voice, it can be said that she was a woman. The masked women stood up and left the tavern in front of everyone's curious eyes. Ray took the little girl to the inn he was living in. The innkeeper didn't say anything. He just gave a professional smile. Ray didn't care about what others said about him either. The little girl didn't dare to move without his order, afraid of being beaten again. Ray ordered food for two people and locked the door. "What's your name? " He asked. "Cla...It's... clar....clara..." She said in a trembling voice. "Hmm...are you afraid?" Ray asked with a smile. " _" She didn't say anything, her small hands clutched the hem of her clothes tightly. "Is there something you desire?" Ray asked something again. " _" She stayed silent. "Are you hungry?" Ray didn't feel annoyed but asked again smilingly. She nodded her head slowly. "Come here." Ray said in a gentle voice. Perhaps she felt some warmth in his words or saw kindness in his eyes . She walked step by step toward him with her small feet. Ray gently touched her cheeks. Clara felt a warm current streaming through her body. She felt very relaxed and cool. Who knows when was the last time she felt such warmth. Involuntarily, crystal clear tear drops appeared in the corner of her eyes. She wanted to cry but felt afraid. Afraid of being awoken from this dream-like atmosphere. "It's okay to cry. No need to hold it in." Ray whispered slowly. Hearing his words she couldn't hold her tears back anymore. She cried loudly, tightly hugging his thigh. She cried and cried as if wanting to remove all her anguish and sufferings through this. Ray stood there silently, he didn't comfort her nor did he give any words of encouragement. Perhaps he was a cold-blooded person or just a guy who didn't know how to say 'It's okay, everything will be fine.' Those who are weak don't have the right to feel alright. That's an ironclad rule of the cultivation world where strong devours the weak.
