The command center was quiet.
Vance stood at the central console, staring at the monitors. The Phoenix network was in ruins. The remnants were scattered, leaderless, broken. The war was over.
But he felt nothing.
Echo walked in, her laptop under her arm. "Vance, I've been going through the Phoenix's files. There's a lot here. More than we imagined."
"Like what?"
"Like a list of operatives who went underground. People who weren't at the summit, who didn't get caught in the sweep. They're still out there."
"How many?"
"Dozens. Maybe more."
"Then we find them."
"Vance, you can't keep fighting forever. You need to rest."
"I can rest when they're all gone."
Echo shook her head. "That's not how it works. There will always be more. Always another threat."
"Then I'll keep fighting."
