It was a very busy evening in London. People were coming back from work, cyclists riding through the streets, those double decker buses had people filling it and businesses seemed to flow well. The car was too quiet for my liking and it made me sink deeper into my thoughts and worry. I assumed Amir was busy that's why he had not picked my call. I gazed up at the rear mirror. My first day at school was not really eventful but I made a new friend whose name was Park Mi Jin, a korean. She was small and petite, looking cute in her coat. She had porcelain skin, black Asian eyes, a small oblong face, red slim lips and a cute nose. I don't know how but we were able to talk well and relate. My classroom was of mixed races. There were American, British, Kenyan, Somalian, Canadian, Korean, Japanese, Russian, French, Indian, Pakistani and other races. After school when I decided to put something in my stomach, I called Amir countless time but my result was the same. He did not pick up. I was worried and agitated but I shrugged it off. Amir and I will talk about that at home. There had been a red car following me since I began to drive. It made sure it stayed a car or two away from my car so that I will not suspect but anytime I look in the mirror, I saw it. It was bothering and made me worry. The car had followed us in the morning which Amir had not noticed. In the morning, I had thought we might just be going through the same road but now, it was suspicious. I pressed the accelerator increasing my speed and the car did the same thing. Fear twisted my gut. I had just been in London for two days and my first day at Camberwell was my third day, why will a car follow me? I swallowed. With Adrenaline pumping through my veins, I changed the gear, stomping the accelerator, the speedometer jumped and the car zoomed moving forward at a high speed. The red car did the same thing driving out behind a car. It followed me at a speed that was fast. I focused on the road ahead of me, overtaking a cabbie. The road ahead was not really free. Driving ahead will make it easy for it to catch up with me so I turned into an unknown street. The car did the same thing. Out of curiosity, I turned into another street. The car still followed me. "They are really following me" I said in a low voice to no one, grinning with excitement, my earlier fear had vanished. I pressed harder on the accelerator and my car moved forward like a shot. It was very interesting knowing I could drive at a high speed. The last thing on my mind was the fact that I had gotten lost in London. My first priority was how to damage the car behind me. I looked behind hoisting my neck to look behind me to see if the car was still following. Turning to look back at the road, I stirred the wheel, turning the next street to avoid hitting a Volvo moving at a slower speed. I jerked the car from left to right over taking any car in front of me ignoring the screaming of horns. I breezed through two upcoming cars, turning the stirring to the next street as I stepped on the brake. The tyres screeched, the car wiggled a bit before moving straight. I glanced at my rearview mirror, it was still following me. "Fool" I muttered under my ragging breath. I bounced from one side to another as I drove in between cars stepping on the brake and the accelerator without thinking. With force, I turned into another corner the tyres of the cars screaming. The constant hooting of an upcoming vehicle had me turning into another corner. It was as if the red car's driver had a determination of not losing me. I was moving at a speed higher than one hundred. I gave the mirror a quick glance and did the only thing that came to my mind. I whipped the Mercedes around in a U-turn and rode straight towards the red car. I knew it was the most stupid idea but I had to scare them. I was not foolish enough to drive head to head into another car. The car moved from side to side as if the driver had lost his balance. I could not see the interior of the car through the tinted windscreen of the red car. The driver tried steadying the car but drove into a shop, glass shattering and the cry of a security system was what I left behind as I drove into another street huffing as I wiped the sweat from my forehead. I screamed happily jumping in my seat knowing I have lost it in an accident. What had curiosity getting the best of me was why a car would follow me. For the next few minutes, I kept driving into streets, roads and wherver my car would take me to. Why? Because I can't find my way back home. I was frustrated and angry. The google map was confusing. I can't even use it because I don't know the street I was neother do I know my destination. I grumbled slamming my fist on the steering. I should have just listen to Amir. A driver should have come to pick me up. I turned into another street and knew I was hopeless. There is no way back home. Feeling the blood in my body turning hot, a question came into my mind. What will I do now? I parked my car behind a silver Nissan along a very busy street in London. I huffed, frustrated and angry that I could not get the road back home. It was almost six in the evening and I needed to be home. I had to tell Amir this when he comes home. He needs to know some crazy car followed me but when will he be home? With my heart sinking with sadness, I sank back into the plush seat of the new car. I had one of the most memorable moments of my life. I had escaped a crazy car. It was fascinating and exciting. Calling Amir will be a waste of time. I knew it. He won't pick my calls, probably busy at work. I brought out my phone from my bag that sat on the passenger's seat. I knew I should be scared and shaking from what just happened but I was perfectly okay. I called Mahira praying she will pick my call. "Assalamu alaikum" Mahira's voice came through the phone. "Mahira" I exhaled, smiling. "Noorie, how are you?" "I am not fine" I said into the phone. "Is there anything wrong?" she asked concern in her voice. "Yes, I am lost in London" I went straight to the point. "What do you mean?" "I am lost in London. I was driving home and had some car chasing me" "Why will a car chase you?" "Mahira, I don't know. Please, will you come and pick me up" I begged desperately. "Yes, but you have to tell me the street you are" she said. "I don't know" "It's London, you will know. Get down and check the road signs along the street" I did as I was told and told her where I was. After ten minutes which felt like forever, Mahira arrived in a cabbie. "What are you doing in central London?" she said walking up to me. "I was chased by a car" "Why will a car chase you and is this your car?" she screamed jumping and clapping her hand. "Yes, Amir gave it to me this morning" "Wow, it is beautiful" she ran a hand through the sleek body. "Why are you out?" she asked, her eyebrows knitting together. "I went to school. Amir got me an admission into Camberwell College of Arts. Amir dropped me and when I was coming back, some car followed me. I tried to lose it and got lost" I answered opening the door. "Get in" I said entering the car. "You should be scared but you seem okay" she said locking her seat belt as I brought the car to life. "It was exciting. I had a car right behind me and I had to drive at a high speed. Did you see how it ran into that shop?" I gripped her hand, jumping excitedly in my seat. Mahira gave me a look that seems to be as if I have said a ridiculous thing. "I did not see the car run into that shop and you should be worried. A car chased you all the way from school to this place." "I know" I returned back to the steering driving into the busy street. "And you are not worried?" "I am and I am telling your cousin when I get home" I said giving her a smile. "I was with a client when you called. I had to take an excuse to be here" she said. "Enjoying your job right?" "Yes and it is just so nice to own my own interior design firm" "Thank you very much, Mahira. How is Aunt Sabr?" "Mama is fine. She is letting out more of her designs. She actually made a sari for you. It is so very revealing though" she said with a smirk. I nodded my head understanding her smirk. It meant the sari was something I could not wear out and I can only wear it when Amir is around. Stupid girl, I nearly flushed. "Where should I turn to?" I asked, my cheeks getting hotter. "This way" she said.
