The snakes around him vanished, though the others were still struggling. He seemed to think that the artificial gravity was an illusion as well, but that he could not overcome simply by willing it. Because, unlike Rin’s conjurings, what Alu did was quite real.
Using fear as a crevice in their mental armour, Rin slipped into their thoughts. “You don’t want to defend this place. It’s not worth losing your lives. Look at the power that comes against you.”
Rin could tell that many were swayed. Enough to make a difference.
With a single thought, they shifted their position, appearing beside Alu and floating in the air. The Field Binder gave a start of surprise, and Rin had to suppress a moment of satisfaction. Turnabout was fair play, after all. “It’s done. You can release them.”
