Kelvin's Pov The manager’s face pales as Lydia steps closer, her icy gaze locking onto his. Before he can stammer out another apology, her hand snaps out, the sharp crack of her slap echoing through the store. “You incompetent fool,” she says, her voice low and dangerous, each word laced with icy contempt. “Do you have any idea who you’re dealing with? I could destroy you with a whisper.” The manager stumbles back, clutching his cheek. “Ms. Lydia, I…I didn’t know! I thought he was just some errand boy! Please, forgive me!” His words only make Lydia angrier. Her eyes narrow, and she takes another step forward. “Errand boy?. And you dared to insult him” The manager’s knees buckle, and he drops to the floor, groveling. “I’m sorry! I’m so sorry! I'm sorry Please, give me another chance!” Before Lydia can respond, the sound of hurried footsteps fills the store. A middle-aged man in an expensive suit rushes in, his face flushed and his breathing heavy. “Ms. Lydia!” he exclaims, bowing deeply. “I came as soon as I heard you were here. What can I do to assist you?” Lydia turns to him, her expression cold. “Your manager and clerk have insulted Kelvin and refused to serve him. I suggest you handle this situation before I take matters into my own hands.” The boss’s face turns ashen. He glares at the manager and the clerk, who are now trembling in fear. “You idiots! Do you have any idea what you’ve done?” The manager tries to speak, but the boss cuts him off. “You’re both fired. Get out of my store and never show your faces here again!” The manager and the clerk scramble to leave, their faces filled with terror. The boss turns back to Lydia, bowing again. “Ms. Lydia, please accept my deepest apologies. I’ll ensure this never happens again.” Lydia doesn’t respond, her gaze shifting to Mary's mother Sarah and her sister, who are still standing nearby, their expressions a mix of shock and confusion. “And them?” Lydia asks, her tone icy. The boss follows her gaze and immediately understands. He steps forward, his voice firm. “Ladies, I’m going to have to ask you to leave. You’ve caused enough trouble here today.” Sarah’s jaw drops. “Excuse me? We’re paying customers! You can’t just throw us out!” Her sister nods, though her bravado is clearly fading. “Yeah! We didn’t do anything wrong!” The boss’s expression hardens. “You insulted Ms. Lydia and her associate. That’s more than enough reason to ban you from this store. Now, leave before I call security.” Sarah opens her mouth to argue, but her sister grabs her arm, pulling her toward the door. “Let’s go,” she hisses. “We don’t want any more trouble.” They scurry out of the store, their heads down. As the door closes behind them, the boss turns back to Lydia, his expression apologetic. “Ms. Lydia, please let me know if there’s anything else I can do to make this right.” Lydia glances at me, her expression softening slightly. “Kelvin, is there anything else you need?” I shake my head, though my hands are still trembling. “No, this is enough. Let’s go.” Lydia nods and leads the way out of the store, the boss bowing deeply as we leave. Outside, Mary's mother Sarah and her sister are standing on the sidewalk, their faces pale and drawn. They watch as Lydia and I step into a sleek black car, its engine purring softly. “Who is that woman?” Sarah mutters, her voice filled with frustration. “How does Kelvin know someone like her?” Her sister shakes her head, her expression grim. “I don’t know, but we need to tell Mary. This isn’t over.” Sarah pulls out her phone and dials Mary’s number. After a few rings, Mary answers, her voice tinged with annoyance. “What is it, Mom? I’m busy.” “Mary, you need to listen to me,” Sarah says, her tone urgent. “We just ran into Kelvin at the herbal store. He took the Soulroot we were going to buy for Justin to gift to the new chairman of eclipse group, and he’s with some wealthy woman now. She's so powerful that even the store boss was bowing to her!” There’s a long pause on the other end of the line. “What are you talking about mom? Kelvin’s dead. Justin told me” “He’s not dead!” Sarah interrupts, her voice rising. “He’s alive, and he’s got some kind of powerful backing now. We need to figure out what’s going on before this gets out of hand.” Mary’s voice is shaky now. “That’s impossible. Kelvin was weak. He couldn’t even stand up to Justin. How could he” “I don’t know,” Sarah snaps. “But he’s not the same person anymore. And if he’s got someone like that woman on his side, we’re in trouble.” Mary falls silent, her mind racing. She can’t believe what she’s hearing. Kelvin, the man she’d betrayed and left for dead, is not only alive but has somehow gained power and influence. And now he’s with another woman, someone wealthy and powerful enough to intimidate her mother and sister. “I’ll talk to Justin,” Mary says finally, her voice trembling. “We’ll figure this out.” “You’d better,” Sarah says. “Because if Kelvin’s coming after us, we’re all in danger.” The confrontation at the store left me shaken by the harsh words, the accusing glances. But beneath the shock, determination stirs. I refuse to let this moment define me. I’m stronger than their judgment, and I will persevere. “You handled that well,” Lydia says, breaking the silence. “But you need to be prepared for what’s coming next. Lydia gives me a small, approving smile. “Good. Remember, Kelvin, you’re not alone anymore. You have the power and resources to take anybody down. And when the time comes, you’ll be ready.” I take a deep breath, letting her words sink in. She’s right. I’ve spent my entire l ife being looked down on, being treated like I’m nothing. But that ends today.
