I popped by her boat to check on her, bringing a box of assorted pastries fresh out of the oven from Penelope’s Sugar Shack. I had my eye on the one pain au chocolat in the box. I knew it was selfish on my part, but I really hoped that Sandy was the kind of hostess who offered a cup of freshly brewed coffee and allowed her guest to have first dibs on the pastries.
