20 I dreamt I was talking to my cat Mashka. “Don’t wheedle!” the cat said to me, rubbing against my legs. “And you? What are you doing?” I smiled. “I can’t help it,” she announced. “That’s how I rub against the bench, too.” “Then rub against the bench,” I said, pulling my leg away in a huff. “You’re softer than the bench,” said the cat by way of explanation. “And you might give me some chicken grizzle later, too.” “Take your grizzle then,” I sighed and gave her what she was asking for. “I thought love was supposed to be selfless.” “Of course,” purred the cat. “But love somehow flows better with grizzle.” I woke up thinking she was right. If only I knew who to save that grizzle for! The next day I’m on my way back from the music school where I earn a bit of pocket money. It’s out
