Not that I cared. I couldn’t have given two shits. On the farthest counter, another tray of muffins had been left, and once we’d dodged our way around the island, I grabbed one up just in time, before the girl manhandled me out another door and into a hallway, where even more people loitered. I chomped on my muffin as we worked between them, ignoring the bodies pressed up tight and hip bumping going on. The walls they leaned against seemed to pulsate in time to their snogging and gyrations. Throbbing in, out, in, out. Even the hue of the walls seemed to change with the beat, flashing red to white, red to white. Through double doors on the left, music spilled out, something with a lot of bass that echoed and seemed to send vibrations trickling across on the air. “Oh—I love this one!” T
