The smile she let through seemed a little watery, until a short laugh, filled with a shyness she didn’t usually show, burst from her. “God, Danny, that was almost poetic.” “But true,” I said, my own smile pushing out. “Every word of it.” Drawing her in slowly, I brought her lips back to mine, keeping the kiss soft. Convincing. Because I had meant it, and I needed her to believe that. It took a few seconds, but her lashes made a slow flutter back down as her eyes shuttered. Her face made a slow tilt upward as she let me back in. Her sigh gradually eked out as she relaxed. Letting my hands glide downward, I gripped her shoulders, bringing her to me even closer as I deepened the kiss once more, encouraged her lips to part once more.
