9 I spent the rest of the day in a shitty mood. Every time I’d looked at Kyle, I’d tried to gauge his feelings. Figure out what was going on behind the stares he shared, the polite-but-no-longer-close tone he offered any time he had to speak to me. On top of that, Dad had been back on site when I got there and acting like he’d never left. He might have convinced me, if he hadn’t seemed to only work for the rest of the afternoon on whatever I wasn’t. Nothing quite like being made to feel like a leper by one’s own family.
