“Breathe, Esme. Anybody would think I was taking you to the Lion’s den.”
Beside me, Esme closes her eyes and breathes in through her nose and out through her mouth. She’s been nervous about meeting my father all morning. I’ve tried to help calm her nerves, but the closer we get to my dad, the worse Esme becomes.
“I’m sorry,” She whispers. She looks at me and smiles. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me. It’s not like this is the first time I’ve ever seen Vadar. But it’s different this time because I’m meeting him as your mate.”
“Everything will be just fine, Esme. Tomorrow is your coronation. Your family will be arriving in the morning, and everything will be perfect. You’ll see.”
