Chapter 4

1214 Words
It has been a few days since Taylor felt the urge to shift. She has been following Mrs. Davies's orders by drinking the horrible wolfsbane tea that she recommended. Another thing Taylor noticed was that her wolf was feeling more suppressed but still whined about her freedom. Her wolf also whines at her any chance she gets when she turns in to check-in. Carson has been spending more time around Taylor and their twins. Both of them came up with a routine that suited them. At this point, Taylor also started getting used to her status as Luna of the pack. Mrs. Davies took the role of Taylor while she was recovering. Early in the morning, something odd happened when Gregory barged into their bedroom. "What is it?" Carson asked bewildered. "Eli has gone missing," Gregory announced. Hearing that made Carson and Taylor sit up straighter in bed. They turned towards either. It has been months since Eli had contacted either of them from the university down in Georgia. Now, come to think of it. They had to think of it like he cut contact since the blow-up with Taylor. Taylor felt some form of sadness and smashed the feeling down. "Did the pack down in Savannah, Georgia contact you just now?" Carson questioned. "Yes. But that is not all. Other packs have reported that pack members have been disappearing," Gregory mentions. Carson was about to say something when Taylor interrupted, "Wait a minute, does any of this have to do with the last few meetings?" "Maybe," Carson answers shrugging his shoulders. He gives Gregory a look to say we know more than what they can say. "We don't have all the answers yet. Can I get back on the subject of the missing pack members from other packs?" Gregory interrupts, annoyed, before Taylor can ask further questions. Taylor sat back on the pillows and huffed. She kept her hands resting on her stomach. Not a minute passed when the baby monitor started going off, and the twins were waking up. She threw back the covers and excused herself from the room with her robe. On cue, Carson gets up from the bed. "Greg, we will continue to discuss this conversation further in the study. We should mention this to Ian as well," Carson told Gregory. "Absolutely," Gregory said leaving the room. Carson went around the room to get a shower and get dressed to ready himself for work down in the study. He thought to himself how felt about the news of Eli missing. He hoped nothing serious happened to him, and Taylor must be a mess. He felt her emotions through the bond and flairs of jealousy sprang to life. He married her and moved on from that part. Lastly, he went to check on Taylor and the twins. After Carson came to check on Taylor, she was just getting done breastfeeding and pumping for the twins to have something to eat later on in the day. Taylor brought the twins to the living room to play in the play-in. She then makes her way over to the kitchen to find Mrs. Davies making breakfast. Taylor looked at the other of the counter to see the all-infamous tea. Mrs. Davies saw Taylor eyeing it with distaste and placed it in front of her. She grimaced at the tea. Gosh, she hated it. Therefore, she downed it without trying to gag on every sip. Looking over at the kitchen table, Gregory and Carson were having a deep whispered conversation about something too low for Taylor to pick up on. They were both still talking as they gathered their plates to put in the sink. Carson kisses Taylor on the cheek before leaving for the office. Gregory left ahead of him. Soon after Carson retreats into the office. "Do you know what they were talking about?" Taylor asked diving into breakfast. "No, it's best you don't ask questions you don't want the answer to. Understood," Mrs. Davies ordered. "Crystal," Taylor muttered. "I will give you advice. When it comes to packing business, the Luna must never ask certain questions about what goes on in that office. Unless you need to know. Got it," Mrs. Davies whispered. "So, basically, Luna is turning the cheek to mind her business when it doesn't involve her," Taylor answered. "Exactly. I never asked when my husband was the leader of this pack. I always stayed to my own thing. Even though my daughter-in-law did what she did. She was still a great Luna to this pack," Mrs. Davies admitted candidly. "I guess it will have to be this way," Taylor admitted in defeat to no one. Mrs. Davies had already left the kitchen when Taylor said. Taylor felt some determination to get what was happening. She was only curious about it though. An idea came to her. Taylor went back to finishing her breakfast. She did the necessary cleanup in the kitchen. Not long after, the twins started getting fussy in the living room. She went to check on them but she passed the office. Placing her ear near the door, she heard hushed whispers from behind the door. The whispering stopped just before the door knob turned. Taylor scurried away to the crying twins in the living room. She made sure she was occupied with the twins, who calmed down, and she entered the room. Gregory and Carson both came out to the living room wearing jackets. Looking like they were going somewhere. Carson comes into the living room to kiss the twins on the head. He kisses Taylor on the cheek and whispers in her ear, "I knew you were by the office door not long ago. I will give you answers when I have more information. Please do not sneak near the office." "Okay. How did you know I was there? Taylor sighed and asked. "I smelled your scent in the hall," Carson said. "Before I leave, there's a packed event coming up that will keep you occupied. My grandmother will explain more about it. I will see you later," Carson mentions kissing her cheek again. "Can we hurry it up?" Gregory asked impatiently near the door. "Coming," Carson replied rushing to the door. After both of them left, Taylor pulled out her phone to text Ava. She waited to do so to make sure the twins were still playing with the blocks. Taylor: Is Ian acting weird? Ava: Yes and No. He just asked me if there was a community event coming up for the local packs. I swear he told me to keep me busy and not think about the missing pack members. Taylor: Carson told me the same thing not long ago. Does it sound like something is happening that they don't want us to worry about? Ava: Maybe. Let's not jump to conclusions just yet. Taylor: Okay. Let's find out what this community event shall be. The text conversation had ended. Taylor put her phone away in her back pocket. She turned her attention back to the twins who were asleep in the play pin. However, Taylor started to feel tired, and she didn't have the energy to move the twins upstairs. So, both of them fell asleep in the living room.
