As they gathered their groceries to check out, the cashier cheerfully informed them that they were the one-thousandth lucky customer of the day and would receive a lottery ticket.
Hannah had long seen through such gimmicks and ignored it entirely.
However, Clyde took the ticket and asked Hannah if she wanted to scratch it.
"Go ahead, see if you win the grand prize." Hannah didn't stop him since he seemed interested.
Sure enough, Clyde revealed a "grand prize."
"Grand prize!" He exclaimed and handed the ticket to Hannah. "This is for you."
"Thank you so much!" Hannah couldn't help but laugh. "You can go claim it for me."
Clyde eagerly went to redeem the ticket but soon returned with a fake diamond ring.
