Clyde froze for a moment.
Was Hannah making fun of him with that question, or did she genuinely want an answer?
As soon as Hannah asked, she immediately regretted it.
Clyde was lenient with her, but she was just his employee. She shouldn't be asking such an inappropriate question.
To her surprise, Clyde stopped in his tracks. He seemed prepared to answer.
"I was joking," Hannah explained nervously. "I know all too well."
Clyde fixed his intense gaze on her, "What do you know?"
"Our relationship," she replied. The boundaries between boss and subordinate were clear in her mind.
"Good that you know." Clyde let out a long sigh and took her arm as they continued walking. "Aren't you hungry? Let's eat."
They moved forward as if no one else existed, leaving Wayne and Ethan behind.
