MIKHAEL'S UNNATURAL gaze didn't go unnoticed by the other party.
Compared to Dominique, Diana and Ethan who had serious or dangerous vibe (it's how Dominique really was when he isn't fooling around), this guy surprisingly had a charming expression. He's still the same as when Mikhael saw him.
If he had to give him a proper description...
Then he's somehow like a kind-looking doctor working in pediatric ward, easily approachable, always had a smile on his face and with voice that sounded like a gentle breeze. He had an ordinary chestnut-colored hair, his eyes were red just as everyone else and he wore a casual suit. Ethan usually went with black and silver combination, while this guy looked like any color would suit him.
Do all Purebloods prefer suits? Mikhael couldn't understand those on top with lots of money. He was too lazy to even buy clothes, much less look fancy.
Next to him sat a woman who drank blood from a wine glass in a similar manner as Amelia earlier. Compared to later, she was a bit smaller in certain area, but she had a cute and lovable expression. Her curly golden hair was let loose on one side, as she wore a black gown. People could simply feel grace and warmth from this woman, it's obvious that she was well suited for the other guy.
"Is there, perhaps, something on my face?" Diana and Jonathan almost chocked when they heard those similar words and immediately perked their ears to hear what else would Mikhael say this time.
"No, it's just... Around a century ago, I sneaked out with Dominique to catch a glimpse of you since neither of us has "apparently" seen a Pureblood before." Mikhael didn't disappoint either. Ethan chose to ignore him and sit down after nodding at his brother in greeting.
The later didn't mind Ethan's lack of courtesy as he nodded in turn before returning to Mikhael.
"Ah, I remember. I wondered what was my second brother up to back then, but since he didn't come to talk to me, I just naturally ignored him," basically, he too avoided Dominique. Since the later didn't come to talk, he immediately left the country before Dominique managed to catch him and rip him off of money.
"..."
Mikhael could understand him completely. He ran away from Dominique, but the other was like pestering mosquito you couldn't kill nor escape from before it sucked all your blood.
"I am Sebastian," he smiled before kissing the lady's hand, "And this is my lovely Angela. Blood partner. Wife. A half-blood."
"..."
Good for you.
Mikhael seriously didn't understand what did those people expect him to say when they show a half-blood around.
Sebastian could clearly feel Mikhael's contempt which made even his forehead wrinkle. Angela, on the other hand didn't have much of reaction to Mikhael. They heard something about him from Jonathan while waiting for the two to come down, and seeing as she didn't care for anyone other than Sebastian, she only put this gesture far in the corner of her mind.
"I'm Mikhael. Though, it would appear that my name is useless in this city," since Ethan chose to rename him for good.
"..."
"Ah, I'm also pleased to meet you," Mikhael added, realizing that his introduction lacked something, otherwise why would this guy be looking at him with that weird gaze?
"..."
Ethan couldn't stand looking at him anymore as he beckoned the other to come to him. Then, without an since of hesitation, he pulled the later in his lap, holding him tightly as if to make sure he won't stray far.
Mikhael only confusedly glanced at him as Dominique found a moment to sneak a contemptuous look at the two.
"Why so jealous? Who's here sane enough to go after Mikhael?"
Mikhael couldn't understand. Ethan was jealous? He once again turned to stare at Ethan with confused eyes, while later only flicked his forehead.
"Why did you all come here?" He chose to ignore the previous question. How bothersome, if not for those guys here, he could've continued to wrestle with Mikhael in the sheets. The later group felt like they could hear his resentment.
Diana coughed.
"Why, of course we were worried," she also couldn't look at the two for long. Seeing Ethan so possessive of the guy who only innocently blinked and tried to figure out what was going on, she felt like she was a single dog despite having a partner on her own. Newlyweds really are something else.
"Worried?" Ethan recalled seeing her earlier. She did seem worried, alright, "Is it about the Blue Death?"
Mikhael threw aside his previous curiosity as he paid attention to what was going on instead.
"Yes, we heard that a corpse has been found here," Jonathan continued, "we feared that someone wanted to make a move against you, so we chose to come as soon as possible."
"We also heard the same. In any case, for someone to openly murder someone with this method in Eden, they must have the ability or someone to guarantee their safety," Sebastian added. Angela calmly continued to sit next to him without saying a word.
They all turned to Dominique and Amelia.
"Well... We heard something on the streets while we were on our date, so we decided to drop by and see what's this all about."
"..."
"It's true," Amelia was finally done with loading bullets and all. Who knows why she took so much time to prepare her weapon before she stood up.
"Unfortunately, Dominique might not be alive anymore in time to participate in your gathering," then she unhesitatingly fired at him who jumped through the window.
"You motherfucker, you dare lose my present because you couldn't sate you tiny di**!?" She chased after him.
"Mon Cheri! It's not true, Mikhael is lying!"
"..."
Perhaps, if he simply said the truth and apologized sincerely, Amelia would've forgiven him. But now...
"You dare to openly lie to me in front of a proof!? See if I don't cut your family jewels today!"
Other than the two newcomers, the rest just ignored this scene while [] had a look of pondering on his face.
"Well," he finally chose to speak, "I assumed that all Purebloods would come here once they heard those news and I had a slight hope that I'll see Dominique here, so I tagged along."
"..."
Mikhael suddenly felt like he understood how this family worked.
"Then, is it only you or..."
Their faces all twitched with annoyance.
"Unfortunately, he seems to be coming as well. I would say to ignore the Fifth, but..." Sebastian glanced at Mikhael, "It does not seem like this will be a peaceful weekend."
Ethan sighed.
Mikhael only felt like he learned of another secret.
'What is this? Ethan doesn't seem to go along with one of the Purebloods? And he's the youngest at that, so he's being bullied?'
'Moreover, there are chances that I'd be targeted as well?'
Ah, having five siblings above him must be hard. He gently pat Ethan's shoulders.
"Don't worry, if he wants to bully you, I'll beat him up. If I can't beat him up, I'll make Dominique or Amelia do it. They owe me few favors. Or if you don't want to have them meddle in those affairs, just use the talismans I gave you, don't forget that you can kick a mountain to the space now, a mere vampire is nothing much."
"..."
Ethan's face was full of black lines. Who's being bullied here?
And a mere vampire?? Did you just classify a Pureblood as a "mere vampire"?
"i***t," so he flicked Ethan's forehead once again.
If it's his Fifth brother, Ethan could find a way to deal with him. He doesn't know what's wrong with that fucker, but despite being older and more powerful than Ethan, the other party found Ethan to be an eyesore.
No, to be more specific, he was extremely jealous of Ethan. Ethan had better looks than him, and despite being younger, his ability to command was no less than the First Pureblood's and he was also favored by others since he was the youngest back then. It was before the arrival of Seventh Pureblood, and Ethan who had a cold attitude didn't really put the Fifth much in his eyes.
He didn't blindly revere him and that pissed off the Fifth. So he wanted to humiliate Ethan, but he couldn't do much because of the other five, especially Diana who extremely doted on Ethan. But he could take away from him.
Everything that belonged to Ethan. His servants, his pets, his property, his lovers...
Everything!
There's a reason why Ethan has no partner right now. Back then, there indeed did appear a half-blood woman who was meant to be Ethan's. She was also infatuated with this cold Pureblood to the point that she was willing to immediately sign a Blood Contract with him.
The Fifth Pureblood then forcefully took her away and finished the Blood Contract with her so that Ethan can't have her and used that excuse to keep her away, despite having another half-blood by his side. Unfortunately, Ethan didn't care as much for her, so he shrugged it off — the other four chose to ignore this because Ethan paid it no mind.
And it wasn't as if they couldn't deal with the Fifth even with two half-bloods.
But Mikhael...
"What's wrong, don't worry too much. Isn't it just a Fifth Pureblood? Amelia could easily trash Dominique who's Second and I am the the one who taught her everything she knows. Have some faith in me, OK?"
Ethan couldn't bring himself to trust Mikhael. He has seen Mikhael's "skills" firsthand, so he only took whatever Mikhael said as useless bragging.
"You're stupid and weak, even a newborn vampire runs faster than you, what good are you to fight?"
"..."
Mikhael, a person who is extremely hard to keep silenced, found himself at loss of words the more he interacted with this Pureblood.
"I'm strong, ah. It's only against you that I'm weak," Mikhael said the truth. He lowered his guard in front of Ethan too much.
"As long as it makes you happy." Ethan could only chose to ignore this silly vampire.
"Let me go," Mikhael, on the other hand, chose to ran away from him. He feared that be might become like Amelia with Dominique if he stayed longer by his side.
"Be good, stay there for a while," Ethan didn't want to let him roam around with the Fifth on his way here.
"And the First brother? Are there news about him?" He continued to ask. Eden will become busy now, but Ethan still held Mikhael's warning that even a Pureblood might be behind this case.
"He arrived with the Fourth," Diana replied, "But he heard that someone repaired the barrier, so he went ahead to check it out."
'Check what out?' - Mikhael sneered in his heart -'To dare suspect that I, this father, didn't do my job well! Foolish creature!'
Ethan threw him a weird look. Why did he feel like he could understand what was on Mikhael's mind even without the other party saying much?
"Come, let me go, I'm hungry," Mikhael still tried to get away. He didn't want to listen to those people throwing around their powerful positions and titles.
"You just had some blood," Ethan threw back.
"Real food. I want real food!" come on, how can blood be compared to the heavenly mixture of spices, vegetables and meat?
"You don't need to eat that."
"..."
"But Cera does. She didn't eat anything and it about time to wake her up," Mikhael chased out the previous cook and took over the kitchen. People getting to eat his food didn't have any complaints, so they let him stay there.
Ethan finally showed a defeated expression before reluctantly letting go of Mikhael.
"Be careful in the next few days." Ethan chose to warn him, "From both the Fifth brother and his half-blood partners." Mikhael only shrugged him off while ignoring his concern. He'll just beat them up or throw a back talisman at them if he can't do so. If he promises Dominique to remove some of his debts, he might even make the later beat them up for him - so he didn't put them in his eyes.
"I'll try not to make it messy," so he replied as he went to wake up Cera. She doesn't usually get up early after Mikhael began to spoil her. Back then, she had to be ready in time to eat breakfast, but after Mikhael came, even if she woke up in the noon, he'd prepare breakfast for her at noon.
"Your partner seems to be confident, Ethan?" Sebastian smiled, but even he felt like the two showed too much affection. Especially how one was: be careful — and the later would say that he'd beat up whomever threatens him in turn.
He was afraid that not even he and Angela shoe that much affection. And what's with that possessive pull to the lap? Don't you trust even your own married brother?
"A silly child," Ethan sneered, "If the Fifth makes a move, I won't go easy on him this time."
Sebastian's heart skipped a bit as he had a dangerous premonition.
"Are you serious this time?" From information he got on Mikhael from Nobles here, the young vampire wasn't even here for a month. How could it make this cold brother of his so attached to him in that short period of time?
"If he does make a move on what's mine this time, then the world will be another Pureblood short."
He didn't care about their reactions. He truly felt that if someone was to try and take Mikhael from him, Ethan would not hesitate to end their lives.
"On that note, what else do you have on Blue Death?" He'd tell them some things, but not all. Mikhael's past couldn't be revealed either.
WHILE THOSE in the room continued to exchange information, Mikhael was surprised to see Cera on her way to the kitchen.
"Big brother!" She happily ran towards him. He then recalled that Ethan kept him busy for a while so it perhaps isn't that weird that she's up. He's gotten used to waking up the little fluff of cuteness by now.
"Cera," Mikhael immediately lifted her up. He had a weak spot for children, "What shall we have for breakfast today?"
She sleepily yawned before resting her head on his shoulder while he carried her to the kitchen. He already threw the warning Ethan gave him in a deep corner of his mind. What of the stupid Fifth Pureblood? What is that ugly creature compared to this little angel!?
He sighed regretfully. At least, he still had Cera.
"Big brother, what is wrong? Did uncle annoy you once again?" She innocently asked making him crack a smile.
"Yes, that big bully annoyed me once again, it would appear that I can no longer get away from him." He sighed. It's good that Cera was Ethan's nephew so he could have her to accompany him for s while. On that note, what was Ethan going to do with her in the future? Will he let her live and die as a human or turn her when she grows up?
"It's fine big brother, you're not alone. I'll accompany you no matter where you go from now on."
Mikhael felt an arrow pierce his heart. Cute. She was too cute. Even ditching Ethan to accompany her, she really was Mikhael's most favorite person in this whole city.
"You're the best girl in this world, has anyone told you that before?"
"Will anything change even if they say nothing?"
"..."
He already felt like Amelia version 02 was on her way to be created.
As he continued to head towards the kitchen, in a corner behind the stairs was a pair of bloody red eyes staring at the two with anger. As the two finally moved away, a woman with long blonde hair dressed plainly came out from the shadows, but her plain clothes didn't hide her voluptuous figure beneath at all. Instead, it made her look somewhat reserved and untouchable, simply luring someone to try and obtain her.
Her cute heart-shaped face only made that impression stronger and it would be perfect if only she didn't have that murderous gleam in her eyes.
"So that's him," she grit her teeth before hitting her nails, "Unforgivable. Unforgivable. How dares he?"
The darkness around her began to shift as if influenced by her rage, deforming and gathering around her feet.
"Unforgivable! How dares he snatch him away?"
A single nail cracked under her furious teeth, but she paid it no mind. She only focused on the place where Mikhael and Cera's figures disappeared.
"Yes, he can't be forgiven. Why should he be the one to have him?" She mused to herself as a dangerous obsession grew in her heart. "Why should I let him live? Kill. I must kill him!"
But no one was there to answer her idea. Even though, anyone could say that this woman was wrong in her head with a single glance. Truly a pity for her beauty.
ON THE other side of the Eden, two figures stood in front of an intact pillar surrounding the barrier of Eden.
The man to the left had some heat similar bearing to Ethan, cold and unfeeling eyes, long black hair and black suit. His square didn't have a single hair of beard on it — but rather than make him look younger, it gave him an odd mature look. He stood there with crossed arms looking at the pillar as if trying to figure out something out of it while another man next to him...
Squatted down and drew circles on the ground in boredom.
Compared to the other man, this guy had a short hair, but seemingly the same color as the former. His face had some baby fat on it, making the man look younger than he actually was — it almost didn't suit his height that was not as noticeable while he squatted down. He wore more casual clothes, but there wasn't a single wrinkle on them even as he crouched down, making a somewhat bizarre sight.
Still, their two pairs of red eyes were what stood out the most.
"Can we go now, I'm already tired, I want to die," the man squatting down complained making the other sigh.
"How can you be so lazy, didn't you rest on our way here?" If one were to look closer, they'd notice that his clothes were also without a single wrinkle. He even had white gloves on his hands, and not a single piece of clothes was out of order. The two men didn't look alike at all.
One would even think that they're complete opposites, save it for the special care of their clothes.
"I rested then, but now is now. I'm tired again at this moment," he continued to complain until the other guy couldn't stand it anymore.
"Alright then, I've seen what I wanted to see. We can leave now."
The laziness from a moment ago was completely gone as the other man stood up happily and began to walk away from the pillar. If one looked carefully, they'd notice that he headed towards the Ethan's castle.
The other man threw another reluctant glance to the pillar before following after the rejuvenated lazy guy.
"It's the same person, without a doubt. Then, he should know, right..." Mumbling to himself, it was impossible to catch what he said from then on. But his cold face suddenly morphed to a twisted expression as he licked his lips.
"Yes, he definitely should."
As of what is meant to be asked and what to be answered, only that man knew himself.
The First Pureblood.
