Therefore, the only two possible explanations to their intrusion would either be that he offended their ancestor or killed them in their previous lives — but the grudge was so great that they remembered it even now. ... And there was another possibility that had more sense — this good future husband of his had a godly ability to attract unwanted attention. Sneaking a glance at Ethan who was equally as confused as Mikhael, he thought that he was quite handsome even with a mask to hide his true appearance.    'Just look at that body, that jaw, that bearing when sitting and talking! That mask, what good skin it hid? It only made him more mysterious and handsome' — Mikhael's hand simply itched to uncover what's underneath this mask of his! In fact, the reason Mikhael didn't want to get laid again was because he feared that Ethan was only interested in him because he wanted to unmask his face. And once he's done... He shook those thoughts away. He didn't think that the other party was interested in their table. They obviously only wanted Mikhael to scram.    "Come again?" Mikhael didn't have a decent brawl in a while, so he didn't mind trashing few people. The times when he attacked Ethan upon waking up didn't count.    "Are you deaf, you punk? We told you to scram from this place. Or do you want us to cut off your ears together with your legs?"    "..."    'Why so violent, ah?' Mikhael threw another questioning look at Ethan, completely ignoring those two. He didn't understand, did humanity's IQ drop together with this war? Was this Neo Academy or whatnot so good that they can enter this place and threaten anyone while disregarding their identities? What if he was a Pureblood? Did they not value their lives? Ethan also sighed, he too couldn't get used to this bunch of crazy humans going around like they're a big deal.    "People who have enough power to be ranked by their color all have lofty identities," he spoke, he didn't even glance at those lackeys, "Those who represent their color at this Neo Academy are people who will eventually become important figures, so they're chosen as next successors to their families."    "..." Mikhael couldn't help but shiver. This is going too much, he felt like slipped into a parallel universe or something.    "There are now many clan's formed by those who actually have a power, but if some rich conglomerate has their descendants enter this place and leave with achievements, they can immediately get among their ranks. But that's only if they use those children of theirs as the next heads. There are many spell-casters around nowadays, so there's quite a bunch of new clans that use this system." Mikhael nodded. Alright. He could understand this, as long as they had someone powerful in their family, they are good. It would explain their arrogance and all, but don't they fear offending a vampire? Would vampires still give a damn about those things if they were bullied? Back then, Ethan explained that Purebloods killed those who were truly in power as revenge for the City of Evernight, so it's undeniable that a new order HAD to be established. In this case, humans and spell-casters who were originally divided felt a threat and banded together — resulting in the current state of affairs. Those who survived would truly be a no good or really good people — so how can good people possibly make something work? In times of war, justness doesn't matter. A way for survival does. Just looking at those arrogant people and that miss, Mikhael could see that they're not good and that there was something rotten with this place. But to be arrogant, one needs a backing to act like that — he only wonders what gave them the confidence to act it out. Those lackeys couldn't hold it down anymore and made a move to grab Mikhael.    "You, how dare you ignore—" but before he could say anything else, Mikhael caught that hand in the midair before simply throwing him out of the window. Spell-casters had stronger bodies, this fall shouldn't be able to kill him... The other two were stunned for a while, but before they could continue, Mikhael simply stood up and threw them out as well. This window was opened and its size matched the table, just perfect for throwing people out! And rather than wait for them to come one after another, he should just get rid of them immediately.    "How convenient," he mused, "This place, precisely because of that thing from year ago couldn't really implement modern technology yet. It would be somewhat bothersome to throw one out of the window, otherwise." Since ordinary things couldn't stand too much mana and this place had to be constantly reinforced with it, it led to the current situation where spell-casters had to create everything here personally. But how could those spell-casters use mana on modern stuff? At the very best, they could create spells to control some older stuff, giving this place an odd, yet novel feeling. This this tavern looked old, and didn't have glass windows. What of the wind and thieves? Just throw some protective spell and it's done. Not to mention that vampires don't sleep, so who'd close at night when they have potential customers? And those windows had a clear view on the streets, making if fun to watch commotion — they would truly eat a loss if they closed them.    "Indeed, you're born in this era so you never witnessed someone be thrown out of window. Hundred or so years ago, glass was less sturdy so it was easy to break — but nowadays not even bullets could pierce them. This world has progressed quite a bit, it almost makes me nostalgic," Ethan added and Mikhael nodded. What a pity that he can't talk more about this, since he was supposedly someone not even born back then.    "I saw it in City of Evernight," he said instead, "It was really a good place."    "Indeed it was, we vampires aren't really excited about the change as humans. They adapt fast, but to us it makes no difference. When we look back, we might even find those times from centuries ago to have been more pleasant than now." Mikhael can't say anything about this. He indeed found those times when he was a pirate to be the most entertaining period of his life. Perhaps, the travel was more difficult and getting information could be delayed for a long time, but they were free and unrestrained for the most part. Nowadays, the government made them no different than machines with set order of actions to do every day, controling their identity and limiting their movement. It's especially tough for vampires, who really can't be bothered with all those rules. And getting a new identity again and again...    "I say, you won't tell me your name, but how about your current identity?" He should have a fake name, no? Ethan only wryly smiled.    "Once our existence became known, there was no longer a need for fake names," heh, want to get my name or a clue? Dream on. Mikhael indeed wanted to dig out his information. Whoever made the fake ID should at least know for whom he made it?    'Tch.'    "Then what are you going to do from now on? No matter what, vampires can't just go around without their identities."    "It's still in planning, but we did think about making use of our bloodlines and clan's to classify vampires. But once the City of Evernight fell..."    "Then..." Mikhael gulped, "What about Judgement Order? Are they okay?" Ethan didn't notice this anomaly since his eyes focused on a woman climbing the stairs and looking in their direction.    "Yes, they were all out the city. Some complications came out... Forget it, you should know. The barrier you gave us, while we were setting it up, a spell-caster responsible for guarding the seventh needle escaped the city along with it." Mikhael's heart suddenly chilled.    "Deflected to the enemy side?" Ethan nodded, but didn't continue to speak anything else and Mikhael didn't ask anything anymore. Mikhael always felt that something was odd about this matter, he was confident in his abilities and knew that once that barrier was set up, forget about twenty nukes randomly falling on Egypt — if they all focused on that shield, they won't be able to make even a single scratch! The Judgment Order being deployed outside, it was most likely to find that person that escaped, but... How could he manage to get away from them? Mikhael knew his comrades' skill, especially when hunting down someone. Even old man Elias was deployed, so... He suddenly remembered something. Other Purebloods wanted to get this barrier, perhaps this betrayal wasn't really as it seemed on the surface. Could it be that they helped the other person escape and then made it seem like he joined human camp? In that case, it would explain everything. His gaze turned cold and Ethan only then turned to Mikhael upon noticing that faint killing intent. He didn't know why did this little fellow suddenly become angry?    'Did I do anything wrong?' At that moment, that woman came to their table, her expression quite ugly to behold. Although her looks were good and she had a bearing of lady, it could not hide the ugliness in her heart. The more she looked at Ethan, the more she wanted to obtain this man. If he was human, then that's fine — if he's a vampire, it will be fine if she makes him her servant. Humans... No, Neo humans didn't fear vampires at all — especially those that came out if the Academy. Since they were trained to become the most powerful spell-casters and weapons, they naturally had to kill vampires. In that place, the first thing they had to do was precisely to kill one provided by the Academy, but it wasn't something for the outside world to know. Even vampires themselves had no idea about this matter.    "I assume it's you who harmed my servants?" But that's not important. This brat here, she have him a chance to leave peacefully, yet he dared to slap her face in the public? But how could Mikhael bother with her now?    "Scram!" Unforgivable. Just for the sake of power and control, a Pureblood dared to endanger the safety of vampires on City of Evernight!? If those bastards didn't make a move, how could those innocent vampires die? If the city still had the barrier he prepared, how could there be so many casualties!? Mikhael was truly enraged this time.    "What did you say?" She gritted her teeth as mana gathered around her hand. No one has dared to speak like this to her since she came out of the Neo Academy.    "If you don't want me to f*****g snap you neck in two, then scram out of my sight right now," Mikhael said that in a calm tone, but that made Ethan feel that something's wrong. "You!" "Miss, it were your men who made a move to provoke us first," Ethan spoke at that moment, "They moved to attack my partner, so we kindly threw them out. You must know, where we come from, this offense is already worthy of someone's death!" She paused, and stopped to gather mana. Ethan grabbed Mikhael's hand underneath the table and gently rubbed it to calm him down. It surprisingly worked and his previous rage immediately faded away.    "Do you know who I am?" She pointed to her chest that had a golden medal, Mikhael only now took a glance at her and noticed that clothes she wore were mostly orange in color. But other than that, he could notice a set of protective formation inscribed in it — though it wasn't much in his eyes. I'm summary, if you could call her a magician, her clothes would be something akin to magicians robes. This Neo Academy treats it's people well. But... Mikhael had a weird thought. If those people of each color would to stand next to each other wearing similar clothes like this for their factions... Won't that look quite... Entertaining? What would they be called, a Rainbow Squad?    "Don't lower yourself to her level, husband," once his anger calmed down, Mikhael immediately began his nonsense. But those words made Ethan's hand pause and accidentally grip his hand too hard, leaving a bruise on Mikhael's palm. Still, he only grit his teeth and maintained an ordinary smile.    "This kind of thing isn't even worthy to sweep the floor of our residence," when he lies, Mikhael scares even himself, "Any person could nowadays become a young master of this or that manor with a so-so ability — if I let them affect our honeymoon, it would really be no good." She began to realize that something was wrong — although she wanted to beat this person, she could feel mana gather around him as normally as air. Still, this person was casually speaking, but was able to gather so much mana at the same time. Could it be... She messed up? Mikhael was curious about this thing called Neo Academy. He could deal with this woman easily, but he wanted her alive. Perhaps, she could be his entrance card? Ethan didn't think much of this matter, but Mikhael was someone skilled in infiltrating places. He is yet to set our a step outside this city, but he didn't doubt that the situation in the outside was terrible. This war won't stop because vampires are angry and humans were foolish. Even if vampires gave up in the end, humans wouldn't... Unless a powerful human appears in the other side and persuades them to back down. Yes, Mikhael intended to be that person. He didn't doubt that no one could match his skill, so he was the best choice for this plan. Another human sent by vampires won't do; would they even survive this ordeal and even worse — what if they also decided to betray them? But nobody had a way of knowing what kind of plan was just born within Mikhael's mind in mere few seconds. Not even Ethan had that much audacity.    "Whatever, I can pretend to ignore this insult," he continued, intentionally showing off his ability to control mana to this woman, "We should depart later with the ship and only then can our honeymoon be finished. I shouldn't ruin it at the very end." But he didn't do it with no ulterior motives. He intentionally showed his power to this woman and bet everything on her identity as a spell-caster — they seek power and knowledge, so they won't miss out on a change to talk with them. The other part of his sentence was telling her to nor disturb him while he's here, but he also informed her of when he's leaving. There's only one ship and only then was she allowed to come and look for him. Mikhael wanted to talk to her about this Neo Academy and how to enter it. Spewing more nonsense as to why he never heard about it wouldn't pose a problem to Mikhael at all, but it would not be convenient to talk about it with so many people around them. Noticing the glint in her eyes, Mikhael was satisfied that she understood his intentions, so he finally waved with his hand and indicated for her to leave. She didn't even hesitate for a moment before departing, immediately going to her lackeys that bothered Mikhael before firing them — and then telling others to book tickets for the next ride. Although she came today and wanted to go to that Underground Necropolis to look for chance encounters, she'd rather stake her future on Mikhael who was in front of her rather than some place where death is more guaranteed than wealth. While she was pondering about this matter and Mikhael about how to infiltrate that place while wondering if he could make do as a leader, Ethan also had his own worries. This stupid human called him his husband. What to do? Want to take benefits from a Pureblood, how could that be so easy? If he doesn't make him suffer for wantonly marrying him off, Ethan would really have shamed his position as one of the leaders of vampire race.
