Hills near As Sywayda, the excavation camp
The day was dying but the excitement amongst the group of archaeologists and historians was tangible. Diane and Geoff spent the whole afternoon slowly and methodically revealing their find. Once word reached the camp everyone interrupted their activities and by late afternoon the whole group was gathered around the remote grave. Ruddy, Gregg and Thomas helped with the revealing of the skeletons and soon it was obvious that this third dig contained no more than a dozen human bodies. By this time Diane and Geoff had managed to fully uncover their find and followed protocol taking countless pictures and samples before even thinking to lift it.
“We must take it inside; the crisp night air might damage it.” Geoff said.
