There was a feeble feeling. A fleeting sensation that traced her cooling form on the edge of the bed. It woke her up. Her world was in a haze, blurry images of objects before her, almost seeming as the shapes of unknown creatures. Both light and dark. Maia’s head spun heavily, kindling with her sense of orientation and balance. She could not stand up, let alone raise her head from the softness of the bed, despite her back aching and her spine sitting in an uncomfortable position.
