Maia eventually fell asleep. Axel and her remained in the same position, cuddling and exchanging a few kisses here and there, while he tried not to ponder on the fact that he was slowly losing himself. When she finally drifted off, he waited for a couple of moments before removing her from himself and tucking her in carefully. He then left the room.
