Ticking

~ACCALIA~ “Hey, wait for me!” I run after Trixie who let howls of excitement. The eagerness Jem exhibits when taking her wolf’s form got my heart tearing apart. Esmee's silence is killing me from the inside. I smile taking in the appearance of our pack forest again, oaks brown and primitive. Trixie slows her pace to balance with my human form. The grasses we step on are crackly beneath my feet as usual. We stare in awe of the size and majesty of the trees. I've never really been able to have a better view of this forest since I rarely come here. Jem suggested coming will help ease the f*****g emotional stress I'm having because of Mr. Knight. Relax, Accalia. You came to relax and forget about him. I focus on the perfect view before me... the trees towering above us. Their knotted arms rise ever upwards, as far as my head can lift. The morning stars peeps down at us like silver asters, glinting and glistening as they look more content in their solar-silver isolation. I inhale enjoying the forestry atmosphere. It's soul reviving. I stop in my tracks, my hands fly to my stomach as my panting increases more. I'd love to continue but me still in human form makes it hard. Trixie notices and approaches me at a slow pace, with her brown fur dancing to the rhythm of the wind. Still bent down, I extend her clothes to her waiting for her to shift so we can head back home. I don't wish to meet any pack members here especially if it's Alpha Ulfred. She shakes her head, letting out howls of disapproval. "I'm... I'm so tired and famished..." I reason. Sounds of bones cracking got me stretching myself to my full length. A naked Jem looks at me, ticked off. "You just ruined my mood, Lia" She groans wearing her dress. I suppress a burst of laughter with my hands stationed on my hips. She gathers all her hair on one side, those green eyes speaking fury. "Goddess, I'm scared" I fake a shaky tone. "Actually..." I face her to find her smirking. "I'm also super hungry. You know you're staying at my place, right?" That isn't a question. I raise both hands in surrender. "Yes, Ma'am" "Silly" Her hand encircles my shoulders, pulling me in for a #sweetbestfriend's/sister's side to side walk. We'll reach her Ash pagan huayra in like ten minutes since we delved more into the forest than we planned on doing. Can't wait to taste her food again. No one makes the best barbecue chicken drumsticks with mashed potatoes like her in this world. **** "You're the best!" I mumble licking the spices off my hands. I feel the last fleshy part of the fifth chicken drumstick through my esophagus. She places a cup of water on the huge kitchen cabinet. I had to stretch my full arm length before reaching for it. "Thanks for the compliment. You're also a good cook yourself" Stuffing her mouth with the last spoon of mashed potatoes, She says making me swallow the water in a haste to reply her. "Not like you sassy wolf!" Sincerely, I say. She laughs as I attend to our used plates. I notice her weird silence as she's on her phone. I wash the plates silently, not bothering to ask her why. Jem only tells you stuffs if she wants to. She'll never spill it out even if I force her to, she'll rather cover it up with a pretty good lie. The best thing to do is wait. To wait for her to open up more to me. It really hurts knowing I can't help her but she has always been there for me, watching my back. Her eyebrows keep twitching in uncertainty with her eyes glued to her phone screen. I ignore it all with a long deep breath. If I pester her to tell me right now, she'll just push me away creating a strong barrier around our relationship. I understand her behavior. I've lost only a parent but she lost both of them. It's quite hard for her to open up. I'll await for her like I always do but I can't promise I'll wait forever. I can't watch my best friend in pain. I clear my throat as I put the napkin down, drawing her attention. She smiles, putting the phone in her front pocket. "Let's go upstairs then, dear little sister. Seems you can't wait to tell me something" Teasingly, she says dragging me upstairs. Ascending it just leaves me thirsty again. I have a room here just like she has one at mine. Living in this six-bedroom house will be extremely boring. She seems cool with it though. A manly scent invades my senses as I sink in her bed with her. We lay on our stomachs, facing the ceiling. Everything here is either in blue, brown, or White. "Ewww...you were w*****g around, huh? It smells homey too and he's probably a werewolf" I give her a wink. A light shade of pink forms on her cheeks. "You'll meet him soon." Her eyes lit with pride "Can't wait to see the person who just made your eyes lit for many reasons I prefer not to speak about" I wink. "So getting back to you..." She pauses. "Did you touch him?" Her question got me rolling my eyes. I take the mirror in between us, looking at my reflection. My eyes, mainly. "No...anytime I tried, he jerks his hand away. He seemed not to be in good mood yesterday." I stare right back at my golden eyes, lost in thoughts. "Someone probably got him angry" I grimace at her words with her gaze wildly fixed on mine. "Wait...you're hiding something" She sounds amused. I spare her a toothy smile before returning to the mirror. "He reeked of s*x!" "Chill girl...how could you smell that on him?....I mean he's an Alpha of another pack. He doesn't belong to ours" Stop acting like you're unaware of everything, Jem. "I ...I don't know but you might" I reply getting a toothy grin from her. "Spill it out" "Alright, Alright... I'm sure he's your half." I drop the mirror, staring at her like a maniac. I fall on my stomach laughing out loud. She's dreaming. "I'm serious, Accalia" With a furrowed eyebrows, she says snapping me out of my hysterical laughing mood. Little laughs escape my lips though. "Why?. Have you had an experience you're not telling me about?" Her wide eyes locked with mine. Her lips slightly parts making it clear she was taking in a deep breath. "Just touch him on Monday and figure it out or mate Jacob...your choice." "If it's true, what if he rejects me because of my eyes" I sound stupid. "He won't... they're amazing plus...you're amazing" I pull in for a short hug. Silence takes over as were all immersed in our thoughts. I freeze remembering I'll belong to that bastard if I'm still mateless. A part of me believes in what Jem said. I'll have to try my luck on Mr.Knight no matter what. If it is negative, at least I tried knowing I risked my first job. Who cares?. The clock is still ticking.
