You’re seriously going to go with that?” Eileen quirked her brow, her inherent skepticism of the mystical warring with the undeniable evidence standing in front of her. “Yes, I am,” Arden replied, casually shrugging her shoulders. “So, you believe him?” Eileen asked, her eyes briefly flicking to Malakor, asking as if he weren’t present. Arden’s eyes shifted to the dragon sitting next to her, searching his sea-green eyes for any flicker of deceit before she finally answered. “I honestly don’t know. But I do believe that if he wanted to turn me in or siphon me for my powers, then he would have done so already,” Arden replied. Malakor didn’t look away from the horizon, but his jaw tightened at her words. “I am here to be the shield, not the sword that cuts her down.”
