Douglas was not about to take the assault lying down. Nursing his pride and his bruises, he marched straight to Magnus’s quarters to report Arden for the attack on himself and Kael.
When he arrived, Magnus looked up, his expression darkening at the late-night intrusion. "Douglas, what are you doing here this late?" Magnus asked, his eyes traveling from the disheveled officer to the younger guard clutching his shattered nose.
"Reporting a violation of the highest order, sir," Douglas spat, gesturing toward Kael’s face. "Officer Arden has finally snapped. She attacked us in the hallway for no reason.”
