Kail leaned against a fallen tree. Dego’s scars were a dirty pink as Kail turned and stared at them in the rays of sun that streamed from above. The deepest scar ran from the top of Dego’s bald head and down below his left eye, the darkest of the scars that Claskan left behind. Three other scars deflected the light, purely because they were a brighter pink and reflected the light differently. While Bora and Padyn collected fish, Dego was demanding that Kail join him while he scouted the unknown areas ahead. Dego claimed it was to train the boy in the ways of stealth, but Kail and Claskan both knew there was something more to the request.
