Kail’s eyes fluttered open earlier than he hoped. The sun hadn’t even reached its zenith before beginning its slow pleasant descent toward night. Paolo snored heavily in the bed across from his.
Kail looked around the room slowly. He wasn’t quite sure why there were two beds in such a small area but thought that this must only be used for sleeping, and nothing more. The head of his bed was butted to one wall, the side of his bed was butted to another. Paolo’s bed was no different.
No decoration hung on the walls. They were barren and brown with a window no wider than Kail, and maybe half of Paolo, at the head of the beds. The door was the only decorated material, and that was only because of the metal that fused the boards in place.
