Hours passed. When he crashed it was barely bright enough to see the landscape in front of him. Now, as he opened his eyes, it was dark and impossible to tell what was in front of him. He thought of the distance he still had to go. Somehow, he had to make it to Bora and Padyn. Then they would all have to make it to Ellende before Claskan and Emma gave their lives for nothing. His body ached as he considered transforming. He heard voices coming from ahead and his thoughts froze.
He didn’t know who was coming and he wasn’t sure he would be able to defend himself from unknown forces. The voices were deep and full of ordered discontent. Whoever they followed, they seemed to be reluctant. Whoever they were a large group of them closed in fast.
