"Sofia Harrington, I remind you, having a relationship with a man who has a lover will not end well. Remember?" Mia emphasized once again what she meant.
"Then do you understand me, Mia?" Arsenio took the opportunity to ask.
"No." Mia didn't like men who cheated, but that didn't mean she would agree to Arsenio becoming her son-in-law.
Arsenio slapped his forehead. It was really tiring, "Seriously. What should I do to make you believe me, Mia? I don't want to brag but for the next week are our honeymoon days. You understand what I mean, right?"
"Don't touch my daughter!" Mia snapped at him hard. She wouldn't let that happen because she would find evidence that the marriage was fake, "Sofia, you sleep with me."
"What?"
"This is an order!" Mia snapped angrily.
Sofia gasped at the harsh treatment from her mother.
"You can't be like this, Mia. Sofia is an adult, she has the right to decide what's good for her, and marrying Arsenio is one of her decisions," Dominic gave his opinion calmly. He didn't like the marriage either, but he hated being in an argument filled with shouts even more, "if I recorded every time Arsenio talked to me about Sofia, I'm sure you would believe that his love for your precious daughter is truly sincere."
Sofia was stunned to hear all that from Dominic's mouth—she was really touched that he was willing to stand up this far for her. She felt like she was falling in love again, "Ah~ thank you, Dominic."
Dominic just carved a grin on the corner of his lips.
"I ..." Mia was at a loss for words, "but why didn't you tell me and your father first? Forget about how much you love each other, at least think about your father and mother."
Sofia furrowed her eyebrows in annoyance with her mother's attitude who kept denying the reality, "I know this is sudden, but I'm sure it's because this is Arsenio that's why you don't agree, right Mom?" she asked sharply, "because Arsenio is the son of your biggest rival Faye Grace, or should I say... your best friend!?"
"Sofia Harrington—"
"No." Sofia refused to hear another reason she didn't bring it up about Faye, "Don't 'Sofia-Harrington' to me. I know you too well. This is about which family Arsenio comes from. And I'm sure no matter how good, no matter how much he shows love and care for me, you'll still think our marriage is fake! Because he's Faye's son!"
"Sofia ..." Arsenio patted her shoulder softly, "Hey, it's okay."
Sofia took a deep breath to calm her fast heartbeat because of the adrenaline rush earlier. Really, saying it all in front of her mother made her heart relieved, what she had been hiding all this time could also be released, "I ...I'm sorry, Mom." she muttered looking down regretfully, "You know, getting doubts from you really hit me hard because I wanted you to be the happiest among the others about my marriage."
"Allow me to apologize too. I'm sorry if I didn't tell you sooner, Mia," Arsenio said softly, "I understand if you hate me, but that won't change my feelings for Sofia. I will continue to love her."
Sofia stared intently at her mother's face, who seemed to be in conflict over what she said. She was surprised that she could formulate such words of defense to get the blessing of this fake marriage.
'I could have made Mom hate this marriage ...'
It would be easy if she and Arsenio divorced later. Instead, she chose to fight back.
Sofia saw her mother get up from her seat and then go to the guest room without saying anything at all. She glanced at Arsenio and Dominic alternately.
"I think this is the right time for me to go," Dominic said. He felt that he had nothing more to say, and he needed time to process what had happened, "Do you want to come with me for a bit, Sofia?"
Sofia glanced at Arsenio, she was happy to get a nod from him, "Sure."
***
Sofia's initial plan was only to accompany him to the front of the elevator, but Dominic thought differently by pulling her in. Before she could ask what he meant, her lips were silenced by a passionate kiss.
Normally she would be happy to get it, but they were in a public place now, she didn't want to take the risk of someone in the penthouse seeing her 'cheating'.
Sofia pushed his chest enough for her lips to be free to let out a small protest, "What are you doing? This is a public place."
"We didn't have a problem earlier," Dominic defended himself, when he was about to kiss her again, she refused, "Baby, you know it will be difficult for us together from now on."
"But not in a public place," Sofia didn't want to do it, "Arsenio knows about our relationship." She was sure her husband wouldn't protest, "I'm sure he'll be busy flirting with Cindy."
"Cindy... are they still together?"
"Cindy was the word that came out of his mouth when I picked him up at the airport," Sofia explained while rolling her eyes annoyed, "can you believe it? I'm his best friend, but he couldn't shut up about that chick."
Dominic shouldn't have laughed, but he did anyway. He could imagine what happened.
"Stop laughing," Sofia ordered annoyed.
"My bad," Dominic regretted but still interspersed with small laughs, "I didn't know Arsenio was still in touch with Cindy." He thought it was all over after his 'friend' left. He was a little relieved, but it didn't change his mind to trust Arsenio, "Anyway, how about we go to my place?"
"Um ..." Sofia wasn't sure about that.
"C'mon baby, I'm dying to get my surprise here," Dominic tried his luck, "you haven't gotten a surprise from me either. Remember?"
Sofia admitted that Dominic had succeeded in carrying out what he ordered, but her mother was still at home; it would be strange if she left, as Arsenio said, they were in the 'honeymoon' phase. She sighed heavily, "I'm sorry, but next time, ok?"
"What ...?" Dominic couldn't hide his disappointment, "You could say there was business. C'mon, baby."
"No." Sofia remained firm, she turned to press the button for the floor number of her penthouse, "Ah ...!" She gasped suddenly being hugged from behind, "wha-what are you doing?" she asked weakly, feeling his hand slip under the skirt she was wearing to caress her inner thigh.
"If you don't want to, we can do it here ..."
