"It's getting appreciably warmer, isn't it?" Hestia remarked, without pausing in her task. As she spoke, her fingers were working away, pulling and spinning wool. Athena watched, fascinated. She was learning how to spin herself but she couldn't imagine she would ever be as fast and efficient as Hestia, who made it look so easy, the distaff tucked under her left arm and the spindle dangling from her right, spinning madly. She wasn't even looking at it. Demeter was talking about the wonderful spring flowers that had sprung up all over the lower slopes of the mountain but Athena was only half-listening.
