Rome, Trastevere District.
Lorenzo spent the day buried in work at the De Luca estate, going over plans of the upcoming meeting. His father's Stern words echoed in his mind, reminding him of the stakes involved.
The Weight of responsibility pressed heavily on his shoulders, and by the evening, he needed an escape.
Deciding to clear his head, he took a drive into the heart of Rome. The bustling streets of Trastevere always offered a certain charm, with their vibrant life and winding alley.
He parked his car near the square and strolled aimlessly, letting the lively sounds and warm glow of the city surround him.
As he turned a corner, he spotted a small café tucked between ivory-covered walls. It looked peaceful, inviting and far enough from the noise of the main street.
Lorenzo stepped inside, the soft clinking of glasses and hum of quiet conversations greeted him.
He chose a table by the window, ordered a glass of red wine, and leaned back into the chair. For a moment, he allowed himself to relax, watching the world outside while savoring the calm atmosphere.
Little did he know, fate was about to take an unexpected turn.

Rome, Leonardo da Vinci International Airport.
The jet landed smoothly onto the runway, its wheels touching the ground with a faint hum.
As the door opened, a cool breeze rushed in, carrying with it the unmistakable essence of Rome, a mix of history, elegance, and promise.
Elena stepped out, her heels clicking on the steps, as her eyes swept over the glowing city in the distance, the air felt rich, almost alive, she paused for a moment, letting the moment sink in.
Her chest tightening as a mix of excitement and anxiety surged through her. Rome wasn't just another city, it is the city that would either elevate her family legacy or jeopardize it forever.
The weight of her father's expectations pressed heavily on her shoulders, but beneath that, there was something else, a flicker of curiosity, even hope, for what lay ahead.
The chauffeur approached her, his polite nod snapping her out of her thoughts. She climbed into the sleek black car, as the city unfolds before her. The city glimmered like a living canvas, each turn revealing another masterpiece of ancient architecture and modern charm.
Elena leaned her head against the window, marveling at the elegant blend of history and life outside. Her phone buzzed in her lap, and she picked it without hesitation.
“Finally!” Caroline's cheerful voice rang out. “I was starting to think you got lost in some ancient Rome ruin.”
Elena chuckled softly, “No, I've just landed and I'm heading to the hotel now. Rome is… breathtaking.”
“Well it's about time you lived a little. And by the way don't even think about spending your whole trip buried in business talk,” Caroline teased, her voice mischievous.
Elena smirked, settling in her seat, “What else would I do? Sketch the colosseum? Sip espresso in some charming café?”
“Um, yes! And don't forget meeting a tall, mysterious Italian man with a killer smile,” Caroline quipped dramatically.
Elena laughed, shaking her head. “Caroline, you've been watching too many romance movies.”
“Excuse me, but Rome is literally made for romance. I'm just saying, you've been all work and no play lately. A little ‘when in Rome’ won't hurt,” Caroline teased. “What if you meet someone who sweeps you off your feet?”
“Highly unlikeable,” Elena replied, rolling her eyes though a faint smile tugged at her lip.
Caroline gasped dramatically, “Oh, you're such a cynic. Just wait. A dark-haired, olive-skinned dreamboat will charm you with his accent, and you'll forget all about your spreadsheet and meetings.”
Elena couldn't help but laugh. “If that happens I'll call you first.”
“Let's make this fun, I bet you'll meet someone. Some ridiculously handsome Italian, charming, and totally irresistible, and you'll be head over heels before you know it.” Caroline said excitedly.
Elena raised her eyebrow, intrigued. “And what if I don't?”
“If you come back without a single flutter of romance in that icy heart of yours, I'll rent you the finest private yacht in Monaco for an entire weekend. Just you and your spreadsheet on the open sea.” Caroline replied without hesitation.
Elena's laughter filled the car. “And if I do meet someone?”
“Then you owe me that Harry Winston diamond necklace we saw last month. The one with the ridiculous price tag,” Caroline said with mocked seriousness.
Elena laughed, shaking her head. “Deal. But be ready to book that yacht, cus, I'm as far from romance as the moon is from the earth.”
“Keep telling yourself that, Don't forget, Rome is full of surprises.” Caroline teased before hanging up.
Elena set her phone down, still smiling as the car turned onto a quiet street. Her friend's word lingered in her mind, and for a brief moment, she let herself wonder if Caroline's ridiculous bet might actually come true.

Hotel Splendore Di Roma - Evening
Elena pushed open the door to her luxurious hotel suite, exhaustion tugging at her limbs. The luxurious space, with its marble floors and breathtaking view of the city, was everything she had imagined.
She dropped her bed onto the plush armchair and headed straight for the wardrobe, pulling out a light, casual sundress.
After a refreshing shower, she slipped into the dress and tied her damp hair into a loose bun. Just as she finished her phone buzzed on the bedside table. It was her secretary.
“Miss Blake, have you checked in?” Her secretary asked, her tone a mix of professionalism and concern.
“Yes, I'm in the suite now,” Elena replied, her gaze drifting to the breathtaking view of Rome outside the window. “And before you ask, dinner hasn't been served yet.”
“Good. I was about to remind you to eat, you need all the energy for tomorrow,” her secretary said. “By the way should I send you the final overview for the meeting tonight?”
“Please do,” Elena said firmly. “And don't forget to update me on the afternoon meeting schedule. I want every detail Sorted out before I walk into that room.”
“Noted,” her secretary replied.
“And by the way, I'm going for a little walk,” Elena said lightly, slipping on her sandals.
“A walk? In Rome? Alone?” Her secretary asked, alarmed.
Elena chuckled. “Relax, I'm not going too far. I've been sitting for hours, and I need to stretch my legs. Besides, the streets here are beautiful, and I could use the fresh air.”
Her secretary signed, her worry apparent even over the phone. “Alright, but please be careful. Keep your phone close and …”
“I'll be fine,” Elena interrupted with a smile. “I'll call you when I get lost, I promise.”
“Alright stay safe” she sighed.
“I'll try,” Elena said, ending the call.
With one glance in the mirror, she grabbed her bag and headed outside, eager to explore the charm of Rome.
As she stepped outside, the cool evening air was her, and the sound of distant conversation and footsteps filled the paved street. She walked slowly taking in the beauty of the golden street lights and historic buildings.
Turning a corner, she noticed a small café glowing warmly in the distance. The sound of soft laughter and the rich smell of coffee pulled her closer.
She smiled to herself, unaware that a single step in that café would change everything.
And she stepped in…
