CHAPTER SIXTEENTAYLOR DAY NINE Taylor stumbled and fell again. Her knees and hands were scraped up and throbbing in pain. The fire was getting closer. Everywhere she looked were walls of smoke, glowing an ominous orange. She knew she didn’t have much time left before the fire overtook her, burning her alive. She shuddered as she staggered forward. She couldn’t imagine a worse death than that. The dry riverbed she had been running down came to an abrupt end. So, she turned right and continued running. That was a mistake. After a few minutes she ran into a wall of granite. It towered at least 50 feet above her head and was impossible to climb. It curled around her in a horseshoe shape, there was only one way out. Back the way she came. Back towards the fire. She slowed her pace a litt
