CHAPTER EIGHTEENTAYLOR DAY NINE Taylor stopped. Her muscles were shaking, and her lungs were burning. She couldn’t make it back to the radio tower, the smoke was just too thick. She couldn’t breathe. She was leaning against a tree, trying to take shallow breaths through her t-shirt. It wasn’t working, the smoke still filtered through. Visions of burning alive kept tearing through her mind. She couldn’t shake those gruesome thoughts. She had thought that running away from a forest fire would be simple – Put your back to the fire, and — Run! But it wasn’t working out like that.
