CASSIE'S POV
First, I thought I was going to die because I didn't submit the work early, but now I know I'm dead. I was expecting him to scold me or fire me at once but he just called out to the maid to clean up the place and he went upstairs.
I turned to Red and asked,“Please tell me, I'm dreaming cause if I'm not, then I'm definitely going to be fired.”
“Don't worry Cassie, he would have fired you that very moment if he wanted to but I think he knows it was an accident. Relax!”
Even though I believed that Red was right in a way, I was still afraid. We both went downstairs and sat on the couch. I stood up and was panting, walking up and down not knowing what to think. I then suggested to Red that we should go before he gets back.He agreed with me, but before we could leave…
“Hello! Are you Cassie?” a voice said from behind.
“Yes…I am Cassie.” I replied while I turned to see the person.
“My name is Ariana and I learnt you, Cassie poured hot coffee on my dad because of your stupidity and carelessness. Are you that dumb? Do you know the number of lives that depend on him? Are you sure you are not an assassin sent to destroy my dad? I don't even know what my dad sees in you that he wouldn't fire you at once. Don't be so happy cause I can be your worst nightmare.”
“Hey little girl! Watch your mouth, Cassie here didn't mean to pour hot coffee on your dad, it was a big mistake and…”
Ariana drew close to Red and cut in,“Listen to me Red, if I were you, I would have stayed away from this because you know how many times my dad wanted to sack you but I pleaded with him on your behalf, so don't even push me cause you won't like me, and you, take care of yourself or something else will happen to you, something unexpected. Anyway, my dad said you can go if you want to, cause the rain has stopped. Have a good night and a safe trip home.”
Wow! I bet I didn't see that coming. Who would have known that such a small little spoiled brat would talk to me like that? I don't blame her…I mean…how can I even do that?
“Cassie! Cassie! I'm telling you, don't take what that little girl says into mind. She's just a brainless young teenager who lacks respect ever since her mom died.” Red advised.
“Don't worry Red, I've seen her types before and I'm not bothered at all. Right now, all I want to do is to get out of this house before I say something I'll regret my whole life.”
We got into the car to leave but unfortunately, his battery was dead.
“Is there anything else that can make our night bad today, more than what we've had already?” I asked Red.
Red smiled and responded,“Actually, you could have been fired, or thunder would have struck you as you were about to enter this car or better still…”
“Red?! Are you serious right now?”
Red just shook his head slightly and said,“I just don't like it when you're sad Cassie, I just want to see you happy as often as it can be. I care a lot about you and I don't think anyone who cares about you would like to see you being sad.”
I smiled and gave Red a tight long hug, forgetting about all of my problems. Ever since I started working in this company, Red has been there for me always. He has always placed my needs first and I just hope we stay good friends forever.
“Now we have decided on what to do whether we will go back inside or stay here until tomorrow.” Red asked while I was still hugging him.
I got down from the car, opened Red's door, dragged him out and started singing and jumping in the rain. At first he was shy but then, about two minutes later, he joined me as I jumped in the rain like a mad girl. We didn't even care whether someone was watching us or not, we just loved the freedom we were jumping up and down. Few minutes later, we got really tired and we began to laugh as loud as we could.
“I expect the both of you to behave like adults. Look at how wet you are, standing in my hall. Do you know how… anyway, just move to the rooms you were offered and whether you bathe or not, whatever you do, do not use your wet clothes to sleep on my bed. And I don't want to hear any noise from any of the two of you, especially you Cassie.” Mr. Kevin scolded and went upstairs.
Red and I looked at each other and laughed, when he realized that we laughed, he turned but we quickly moved to our rooms without even looking at him.
The next day, I woke up very early to help clean the house and prepare breakfast, but…
“Ma'am, here we don't cook breakfast, we only cook dinner and sometimes lunch.” The maid informed me while I was trying to bake some cookies, cake and make coffee for breakfast.
I was so shocked,“So why don't you cook breakfast for them? Is it a family taboo or just a tradition?” I asked in wonder.
“No ma'am, they just love having breakfast in a nearby restaurant every morning. They spend not less than 1,000 bucks there everyday.”
I refused to let the maid convince me, so I started baking and cooking breakfast for everyone. In less than two hours, I was done, so I served the table with the different dishes I prepared. The whole room was filled with my powerful hand's magical cooking aroma. I was so happy. I quickly went upstairs to freshen up so that I could call everyone to come downstairs for breakfast. I was so lost in my dressing that I didn't even realize that the time was going.
All of a sudden, I heard my name downstairs but it wasn't a happy call. I quickly rushed downstairs only to meet Ariana and Kevin together with Red.
“Who asked you to cook breakfast for us?” Kevin asked in a deadly manner but I didn't answer.
Suddenly, he shouted the question again which made me scream out, “Nobody!!” He walked closer to me and said,“If you want to build a restaurant, don't start the business in my home. Now I want you to pack all these and go with it. If I go, I don't want to come back to see either you or the things you've prepared.” he then stormed off.
“Did you hear what he said or are you just going to stand there like a statue? Come and pack these things from here.” Ariana said but before I could take the things, she took a plate and dished out some of the cake, picked some cookies and continued,“It's not like it's even good but because it's my dad's money, I'll take it like that.”
I thought I would be sad with all that they did but I was happy instead. I packed the things, and we left.
“I can't believe what you're telling me Cassie, you mean your bossy boss's boss daughter said all these mean things to you and you kept cool?…” Marina asked in disbelief…
Red cut in and added,“After all that, she still took your sister's cake, cookies and some other pastries, claiming it was her dad's money. I laughed when we saw her upstairs munching the pastries with milk and juice.”
We all laughed. I was happy my family was happy, and Red joined us as we enjoyed the food. Part of the food was already gone before we packed it up but I knew Kevin had already eaten it before knowing I was the one who prepared it. Well, I heard one of his numerous maids saying it when we were leaving.
“Red? Won't you go to work today? Have you forgotten that Cassie is on suspension? Or you want to join her to have a fun and enjoyable suspension.” Mom asked.
Red relaxed in the couch and answered, “Don't worry about me Mrs Baron, I'm already ready for work, I'm just waiting on my driver to come and pick me up.”
Mom shook her head and retorted,“I don't want you to get into any trouble with your boss. Let Cassie's driver take you to work or, you can take the car to work, when your driver is done he'll send it to you and our driver will come ours.”
“Okay Mrs Baron, thank you very much. I'll take your advice. I'll see you after work. Bye.” Red responded and left.
