Corinna's POV The surprised gazes that landed on me made my heart pound faster. I feared I had just interrupted a conversation that I shouldn't have heard. "What happened to the Alpha?" I asked them quietly, and their exchanged glances only added to my anxiety. Eventually, Amira stood up and stepped toward me. She took my hand and led me to the table. "The Alpha is fine; you don't need to worry, darling," she reassured me, pouring me a drink. I frowned at her. "Cherry syrup. The cherries came straight from my garden. It's delicious. Have a sip!" she encouraged. Not wanting to offend her, I tasted. It was indeed delicious, but I was desperate to know what had happened to the Alpha. "Beta Barrett, I heard you say that the Alpha could be in great danger. What did you mean?" I pressed.
