I'd already hit the delete button ages ago. Dad was as pale as a ghost, and Celeste's face had also drained of color. The other guests were still chuckling and teasing, "Aww, Elara even shot a video for us, huh…" The second they tapped to play it, the video cut off abruptly. A deafening silence fell over the room, with nothing but heavy, ragged breathing blaring from Mom's phone. Mom's face stayed completely blank, but her fingertips trembled slightly. I slipped behind Dad quietly and pulled out the stuff I'd prepped earlier. I finished setting everything up without him noticing a thing. Everyone at the table was too fixated on the sound from the video to pay me any mind. Celeste was the first to snap out of it, letting out an awkward snort of laughter. "Hahaha, Elara's so smart!
