Elisia forced herself to take a breath, but it hitched in her throat, broken by another sob. She squeezed her eyes shut, gripping the steering wheel even tighter. She wanted to drive, to leave this place and never look back—but where would she go? Her apartment? No. Too many memories of Emmett. Too many reminders of the life she thought she had. Her parents' house? No. Cassie would be there eventually, and she couldn't bear to face her again. She let out a shuddering breath, her mind racing. Anywhere but here.
