As I run after smith all the way to his office, I couldn't help myself as my mind wondered over the past few days. What have I done? Congratulations to me I'm seeing a new level of the house in just two weeks! Mr Smith took a turn and within seconds we were in front of an elevator, great the house has elevators too! I entered as soon as he checked in things like fingerprint to prove that he is allowed to use it and then the eye I mean what was I expecting it's 2043 after all. People have had a lot of time to develop systems and systems and even when werewolves prefer living the old fashioned way, we had enough time to reconsider that, and now ...well you know how it works, you teach someone something and with time they become better at it than you'll ever be. Werewolves are almost at the end of two projects that will change the whole world if they become a success and that's why we are no longer hunted these days. We have treaties with the governments of the humans we just aren't allowed to show off in public. The governments know that we exist but their citizens still believe we are myths, which is unfair.
"Come in" Smiths' voice pulled me out of my train of thoughts and found him holding the door to his office wide open for me to enter.
His office was amazing to say the least and even though it's a surprise, he was a neat person. He had a mini library with neatly stacked books and that applied to his desk too, everything in the room was neat, damn it even the ceiling to floor curtains looked like they were ironed everyday.
While I was staring at his office he managed to enter the room and make himself comfortable and soon was looking at me as if I'm a kid who is looking at a new cookie and that was so damn embarrassing.
I quickly took a seat before he cleared his throat and started speaking.
"What do you need to know?" He asked in his signature voice.
"What you had to ask" I state the obvious
"Okay that's my queue" he said more to himself and the next thing he said had me ask for a glass of water.
"Garza was established for you, I mean like our mission as Garza was to search for you'' he said and I choked on my breath as I miserably tried to hide a laughter.
"Glass of water please" I said and run quickly grabbing the nearest bottle I saw.
~~~~~~~~
After leaving his office I went straight to my room, I got nothing out of our talk because just after almost laughing at him or literally laughing at him he made a big deal out of it that he even sent me away without that talk he brought me for.
I mean he was like 'I might be wearing my laugh at me face' and he sent me away #coldhearted right?
I pushed all the thoughts to the back side of my mind and entered my room and before I registered what was going on two pairs of arms were engulfing me in a bone_breaking hug.
"Can't breathe " I said when I finally recognised that these stubborn guys were not letting me go any soon.
"Can't contain my happiness" Mia spoke up as soon as she allowed me to fill up my lungs.
"That makes the two of us" Lucas said as he made himself comfortable on my bed.
" look at you why aren't you so happy you just completed your freaking first shift for crying out loud" she screamed the last part into my ear and I bet I heard my eardrum rapture.
"Please__" I started but she didn't let me answer as she continued her speech
"Do you have any f*****g idea what that means. For God's sake it only comes once in a life time"yes I know that now will you stop screaming! Was she this excited about her own shift?
"yeah I know what that means and I'm happy but can you please stop screaming" I said as I took a seat next to Lucas who was grinning like a fool at Mia's outburst. Is that even funny?
"Okay, okay now why did smith pull you out of there as if your a thief he just caught in action?'' I saw that coming.
"Well about that I'm not sure. But he said something along the lines of Garza being established to find me can you even hear how funny that sounds? Well I laughed at that and the next thing I know he is chasing me out of his office."
"Just that? Typical Smith just don't take it personal that's his attitude towards everyone. You sure he didn't say something else?" Mia said.
"He said something like 'extraction tomorrow' and I don't even know what the f**k that means" I laughed at my silly attempt to copy voice.
" no,no no no they can't just take you away" Mia shouted. AGAIN?
"what is that supposed to mean?"
"That they are taking you away tomorrow"
"You're kidding right? By the way Lucas why are you so quiet tonight" I said complete blocking Mia's voice from my mind.
"Damn it Ava, I'm serious. Did he say where they are taking you?" what no! Did he? Honestly I don't remember.
"I don't remember" I told the truth. "Can I talk to Lucas please"
"Are you sending me away?"
"Maybe. Okay let me talk to you first, fair?" She just grinned and I took that as I yes and I pulled her all the way to the door and out of the room we went.
"Look I hate myself for this but if you still remember Lucas didn't have his shift all because of me. And I can't help but notice the pain he has, I mean we've been talking about shifting since we got here and he has no idea what it feels like. It's a new adventure to me that I want to blurt about the whole day but it's still a fantasy to him" I said and noticed as her eyes went from sparkling with happiness to guilty and regret.
"Now let's get inside before he catches onto something and let's change topics" I said opening the door to find him scrolling through his phone.
"Okay. Lucas our talk now" I said trying to sound as cheerful as possible maybe it will help lift up his mood.
"Fine" he said. Sticking to short answers I see!
"Let's address to the elephant in the room Lucas. How do you feel after losing your chance at first shift and that all because of me"
"It's okay. And what about that extraction of yours?"
Dodging questions I see; I have all night long and I intend to use that for one purpose.
