"Oh my God, I'm so sorry Ava." He said checking if I've ruined his outfit and once he was convinced that everything was perfect he moved his eyes straight to mine. " oh my God Ava what's wrong?" He asked.
Wait! Can he read my mind? Oh gosh what will I tell him. Alpha will kill me today.
"It's nothing I'm fine" I said as I scanned the kitchen to see if any of my supervisors is here, but just then I remembered that I don't have the slightest idea of who my supervisors were, all I knew was they had to be over eighteen and that's nothing near a description if more than thirty people fit in it.
"Seriously Ava? After twelve years of friendship you still think lying to me is that simple? By the way how did we get here? To the extent that you think that it's best if you lie to me?" He was pissed off.
"I'm not lying Luc I just had a bad night"
"Of course you did. Nothing good ever comes out of my dad calling you in person and out of all the park house call you straight to his office, cause last time I checked we weren't even allowed to reach the top floor. If He did anything is swear I'll ..." He started and I knew I had to stop him before he said something he would regret later on.
"Shut up. Do you even know who you are? You're not a human Luc! They can swear as much as they want but for us, it's a debt we have to pay before we die. Even if it's the last thing we do " I said with the intensity to make him stop. But quiet enough to avoid the last thing I wanted right now. An audience.
"I said I'm fine and a bad night doesn't always mean your dad. You can be part of my nightmares too. Meeting you is now my worst nightmare. So if you'll excuse me, I've got to go" I said my voice firm as the hardest rock in earth.
"Like seriously Ava! After all this, this is how we end? Total strangers? You've got to go? Just leave me standing and go! I used to know your daily agenda! Damn it I made it for you, and now..." His eyes held a sense of disbelief that was killing me with every second.
"Now we're grown ups. That's what happened, we're not longer the pups that used to run and play hide and seek all day as if it was what we were meant to do. We've got a lot more waiting for us" I said trying to put some sense into his head.
"What? now you're using the two weeks difference between us and act like an older sister?" He asked disbelief still registered on his face.
"Maybe, or maybe not. I'm not your sister. You're the Alpha's son and I'm nobody's daughter. You've got more interesting things to do like rule the pack and find it's Luna "
"Well you might be my Luna" he said.
Holly goddess tell me he's joking.
"Hope you never thought so. Because then you're wrong, I'm not fit to be anyone's luna let alone a strong pack like night sky pack."
"Well I liked you the first time I saw you. I'm sure the moon goddess won't disappoint me and the whole pack" he said confidence beaming in his eyes.
"That's a miscalculated probability. Figure out the difference between us then you'll know why I'm not even fit to be someone's mate let alone a luna." I said taking a last bite from my pancake. I completely forgot my breakfast! I'm no longer hungry anyways plus my coffee is probably as cold as ice now.
"Miss Ava" I heard a voice call out. s**t, only the elders called me 'miss'. I turned to face the eldest cook in the pack.
"Yes ma'am" I said bowing down a little to be polite.
"The Alpha needs you" she said before going back to her work, and I swear I saw a hint of pity in her eyes. I'm a dead meat.
Great now I destroyed the longest relationship I've ever had with someone. The only one to be specific. And I still got caught?
With one last glance at Lucas' horrified face, I run up the stairs two at a time to get the hell out of his eyes.
Okay now that I'm safe, what am I telling the Alpha.
Knock knock. No answer.
Knock knock
"Come in " I heard him say
I pushed the wooden door slowly and entered the room with zero noise.
"Good morning Alpha" I said and waited for his permission to sit.
"Good morning, take a seat please. I believe we have a lot to discuss." He said as he put down his writing feather and made himself comfortable for a talk.
"Thank you" I said as I pulled out a chair across the table and sat down.
"Now I believe yesterday we had an agreement" he said
'' yes Alpha" I said politely
"And did you obey them. Okay like one of them" he said.
"Yes Alpha" I said without taking a second to think of it.
"Will you explain yourself please?" He said leaning back as of this was getting interesting well maybe it was.
"Well I had to let him know I don't want him near me. We both know he wouldn't stop tailing around if I didn't do some serious talking"
"And we both know that he's not the' let it go' type. He will have to look further into the case and that can be quick than you think he might find out everything before the end of the two weeks remaining for his birthday. He's not just an ordinary wolf!" He said
"I get it alpha but I'll keep an eye on him and make sure that he does nothing that can let him in on the information" I said reassuringly.
"Good. now what kind of cake do you want for your birthday?"
Wait I'm having a birthday?
"Umh. "They ask me this question every year but it becomes new to me every time
"I want a four tiered, white chocolate cake." I said. This is a dream come true.
After the talk with alpha which went surprisingly good, the rest of the day was perfect. No bullies, I was the birthday girl and I had to do the shopping for tonight's outfit.
In short everything was just fine until Lucas decided to play the part of being my worst nightmare, well I called him so.
"Why didn't you tell me" I heard Luca's voice out of no where.
"Seriously do you have ears?" Seriously like after everything he came back.
"You haven't answered my question. Why didn't you tell me" he repeated.
"Tell you what " I asked with a puzzled look. I thought I've said everything that needed to be said and what wasn't needed actually.
"That turning eighteen wasn't just a birthday. And now you want to carry all this burden alone? When are you leaving?"
Damn it, I'm dead.
