Dominic I jolted awake, the bed felt too big suddenly, like half of it was missing. My hand reached out automatically to the other side, expecting to feel Madelyn's warmth, but the sheets were cold and smooth, no body heat left at all. I blinked a couple times, trying to clear the sleep from my eyes, and sat up slowly, rubbing the back of my neck.
