Chapter Eighteen: Time Together Can Fair All Weather

2911 Words
A couple hours later, Brian still in his office trying to think about anything but Bianca, finally saw Bianca and the mystery man leave the guest house. They proceeded to get into her car and take off. His heart sank further than it already had. “He had really spent the night with her,” he knew for sure now that it was true! Brian was baffled. Bianca wasn’t like that. He thought he knew her better. She wasn’t someone who had one night stands or casual hookups. It could only mean one thing, she had feelings for this guy. The mystery man had never left, not even after Brian had fallen asleep. He had hoped that he would have. Spending the night is so much more personal than just a booty call. Brian knew he should be happy for her. He wanted nothing but the best for her, truly. But the happiness was short lived and instantly replaced again with hurt and jealousy. “Just great,” he sputtered to himself.Brian shifted through his papers on his desk, in more of any annoyance than a purpose. He needed to do anything to eat away the time. Hopefully, work would suffice. Not likely though. Brian attempted work several times. Each time, he was distracted after about 10 minutes. If he kept this up, he would certainly not make his boss happy when he got into the office. 2 pm finally rolled around. Bianca had arrived back home about half an hour after she had taken off with the mystery man. Brian turned down his laptop and put it in his. Brief case. He had had enough. “She should be ready to leave,”Brian eagerly thought to himself. He couldn’t wait to be able to be alone with Bianca so they could talk one on one, unfiltered. He needed that. However, he knew the reception would be frigid. Brian cleaned up his assorted array of papers on his desk and loaded his bags into his Jeep. He then made his way into the guest house to help Bianca, but she was already heading out the door at the same time as he entered. She immediately shut down his offer. “No, thank you. I’ve got it,” Bianca said as she walked by Brian swiftly and thoughtfully. Brian frowned but figured he would let her be for now. She wouldn’t be able to avoid him forever. They would be alone very soon. Olivia had been patiently waiting in the driveway to see both of them off now. Admittedly, she was nervous about this trip. She couldn’t deny that. In that one moment, she felt like she was sending her partner off for good. She felt lonely and he hadn’t even left yet. She needed to give him something to remember her by. She needed to feel his touch. Olivia passionately went up to Brian and kissed her man goodbye. She then hugged Bianca. They both reciprocated the gesture to Olivia, pleased at her demeanor. “Go make me a baby, you two," she hollered to them as they drove off! It certainly was an odd statement to make, but to Olivia, it had seemed appropriate given the circumstances. Brian and Bianca glanced at each other quickly and then opted to not address the statement just planted upon them. ....... For the first half hour of the trip, neither Brian nor Bianca spoke to one another. Bianca kept her earphones in to ignore the man. This just further infuriated Brian. He couldn't stand the silent treatment. “It was so childish,” he thought. Finally, when he couldn't take it any longer, he reached for and grabbed the earbud out of Bianca’s left ear. "Yes, Mr. Stanton," Bianca responded coolly, shocked and upset that he had done so but realizing the boundary of knowing that he still was her employer? "Don't you think we need to talk?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. "No, I'm good!" Bianca turned away from him to look out the passenger side window. She then put her earbud back in that had fallen in her lap from where Brian had pulled it out abruptly. Brian reached again for her earbud and, this time, didn't give it back to her. “You may not want to talk, but I want to talk. I am still your employer, so let's talk! We still have about another hour on this car ride," he added as he did his best to control his feelings and still drive safety. "Fine," she stated matter-of-factly. What kind of work discussion do we need to have?” Bianca still didn’t look at him directly when she spoke. “The little woman was clever,” Brian thought to himself. He disregarded her last comment and went right in for what he desperately wanted to know from her, and what was eating away at him. “Bianca!” “Yes,” she said softly, still looking away. “Bianca!” he followed up. “I said yes.” “Would you at least look at me?” Baianca finally gave in and gave him a glance. “Thank you. Now Who was that man that spent the night with you last night," he demanded? "I don't think that conversation is appropriate for work, Sir," Bianca emphasized the “Sir!” "Maybe not, Bianca, but as your employer, it is a question that you need to answer!" Brian then got stern with her for a moment and gave her an empty threat. "If you value your job, then I suggest you answer me!" "Well, if you must know, his name is Collin. He is someone that I have known for a very long time," she followed up. “Anything else,” she asked sarcastically? Brian felt a light sense of relief that she hadn't brought home a stranger to spend the night. He wasn’t a random rebound or worse, someone brought home to torture Brian. It turns out, either way, that was what she did, purposefully or not. But then another worry crossed his mind. What is she had feelings for this Collin, whom she has known for so long? Bianca could see the jealousy now flowing through his eyes. Part of her wanted to just tell him that Collin was just a friend and that he was a gay friend, no less. Another part of her thought was that it was her own private business, and she didn't need to discuss any of that with him. However, the last part of her felt that if she told the man that she was romantically interested in her friend, maybe he wouldn't treat her as nice as he had been, and she would be able to sort out her feelings for him from the work that she needed to do. She ultimately decided to go with the latter of the three. "Do you have romantic feelings for him," Brian asked bluntly as his foot accelerated on the gas pedal? "Well, yes, actually I do. I wasn't expecting to run into him again, but he has moved back to the area and wants to see where our relationship could go," she lied. "You have a job to do here," Brian said coldly! “Well now that you mention it. I know the job at the Nursing Hime is still free. I think maybe I should look into taking it.” Brian’s face fell. He was startled. “Would she really consider leaving?” “You’ve signed a contract. You have obligations to us, to me!” “This isn’t working, Brian. We are in over our heads. Can’t you see that?” “No. I don’t want you to leave.” “I’m sorry. Truly!” “My wife will push this, I know it. She will take you to court. Don’t do this, Bianca. We can work it out. I’m not sure how with this new boyfriend of yours, but we can. Somehow.” Bianca sighed. She knew how cut throat Mrs. Stanton truly was. She would make her life miserable. She didn’t want that either. "Fine. I assure you, Mr. Stanton, even though I have obligations to your family, this man will not affect my work for you. I will not be having any intercourse with him until at least the time when I am pregnant with your baby," she made it known. This news, which should have brought a sign of relief for Brian, was none so. Yes, he was glad that she wasn’t leaving or hopping into bed with another man. But, he didn't want her with anyone else. “But why? She isn’t mine. She is my employee,” he tried to rationalize in his mind. “She is more than my employee,” he knew. The rest of the ride was complete silence. Bianca had succeeded in her task. She said just enough to get him to leave her alone. So she then put her earbud back in and turned to face the passenger side window again in peace. When they arrived at the hotel, Brian when up to the concierge and checked them into the room. When Brian handed her the room key with the same number as his she asked, "Where is mine?” "I just figured since given the nature of the task, you would stay with me," he admitted honestly. "I would like my space," she rebutted . She then turned away and made her way back over to the concierge desk. "Excuse me, can I book a single room, please," she asked the front desk attendant? "I'm sorry Ma'am, there are no rooms available at this time, you do know that there is a big conference taking place," the attendant stated. "Bianca sighed. "Uh no, I didn't. Thanks for checking. If something does open up, please let me know!" she concluded. The bellman carried their bags to the 6th floor. Bianaca then took the access cards from him and prayed for a double. As she opened the door, her nightmare continued. “One king bed, ugh! Go figure,” she managed to let it slip under her breath. Brian chose to ignore the distain that was coming from Bianca. Both of them put their stuff away, still barely speaking to one another. Brian finally broke the ice as Bianca just stared out the glass balcony doors. "I made dinner arrangements for us," he stated. "I'm not hungry," Bianca added quickly and walked past him hurriedly out of the room, not knowing where she was headed! Brian immediately texted her. “I am paying you by the hour, and you are on the clock. Come back in the room and get ready for dinner. You are going," he ordered! Bianca was in no hurry to go back to the room, even with her boss’s demands. She took her time... going to the vending machine and then the hotel store. Finally, after about 20 minutes, she decided to head back. She had no where else to waste time. Brian was waiting for her by the door when she arrived back, fully dressed in a black suit He had changed while she was gone. However, when she went back in, she ignored him again. “We need to leave for our reservation now, or we'll be late," he stated firmly! "I need to change and...," She began to say but was cut off. "Sorry, Ms. Mortimer! If you didn't go off on your tantrum, you would have had time to do that, but now, we must leave. Traffic will be terrible at this hour," he held open the door and gestured for her to exit before him. She looked down at her jeans, sweatshirt, and sneakers and sighed. “Compared to him, who had changed, I looked like a slob,” she thought. She reached over and quickly grabbed a pair of heels and a dress from the closet and made her way before him. She then proceeded to the stairwell and met him at the valet. He seemed quite annoyed, but she didn't care! In the car, Bianca ripped off her sweatshirt, tore off her sneakers, and strategically maneuvered her jeans down. "Bianca. We are in public! Could you be more discreet," he asked? "Why should I care what people think of me. I don't know anyone here, and you've already seen me completely naked," she responded. "But I know people here. Lots of people, and I don't want them seeing what you have to offer," he shot back! "I should be the only one seeing you this way," he marked his territory! "If you're lucky, Mr. Stanton. I may try to find a full body suit with just a vaginal opening to wear," she added. "For when we have to be intimate!" Appauled by her outburst, Brian quickly pulled his car off the road and put it in park. He needed to settle this crazy thing once and for all. He didn’t care whether he had traffic all around him either. This would be the place! This started Bianca. She had no idea what he would do now. He looked heated. He also looked hot. Hot and heated! "What are you doing? Are you crazy? We'll be late,” she added, trying to avoid this conversation! "I don't care anymore, Bianca! Right now, you're the most important thing to me! We can miss dinner for all that matters. Just look at me! Please look at me, Bianca," he pleaded as he pulled at her arm! She finally broke down and looked at him, square in the eyes this time. "I'm looking at you! What more do you want from me," she asked? “Talk to me! Why are you being so cold to me? Why are you shutting me out? What did I do to deserve this," he begged for answers? "You did nothing, Brian. Much to your surprise, this is not about you, it is about me!" She looked away again!. "I don't understand. One minute, you tell me that you want me to love you like you love me, and the next minute, you're ignoring me and entertaining another relationship," he stated! "You're one to talk, you're married, and for some reason, you seem to care about what I think," she fought back! "You know that's not fair! You knew I was married when we met," he noted! "Yes, so why do you care what I think? I am now I am doing my best to fix what I started. I need to get my life back on track because if we kept going the way we were, I was sure to get hurt," she boldly! "I would never hurt you, Bianca," he touched her hand gently. He could see her tears begin to form in her beautiful eyes. He hated seeing her that way. "It's too late, I'm already hurt, and you didn't even have to do anything," she said! "What can I say? What can I do? There must be something that would take your pain away! I'll do anything," he looked deep into her eyes now. "Don't make promises you can't keep, Brian," she warned him! "Bianca, you have no idea how special you are to me! He grabbed hold of both of her hands and held them tightly in his own. "I think about you, every minute, of every hour, of every day, since the first time we had coffee in that coffee shop," he poured his heart out to her! "You told me a few days ago that what you wanted most was for me to love you like you loved me, right?” He paused. “Well, it's too late! I'm there, Bianca! I do love you! I love each and everything about you! I love you more than I've ever loved anyone in my whole life, and I didn't think that was possible! I've loved you from the moment that you captivated me with your kindness, your brains, and your beauty in that coffee shop! Since that day, I've wanted nothing but to kiss you and tell you that, but I couldn't! Well, now here it is. My biggest fear is losing you! So the gloves are off! I love you, Bianca," he leaned into her, grabbed hold of her chin, and passionately kissed her like he had never kissed anyone before! He didn't even care what the world was doing around him or who saw him! He just knew that he couldn't lose the most important person in his life! Boston would have to wait for him. He was very much in the moment l! When she came up from the long kiss, Bianca smiled at him as the tears poured down her cheeks. She couldn’t believe it. She almost felt as if she were dreaming! "I love you too, Brian! I'm sorry for all that I've put you through these last several days! You didn't deserve any of it," she explained! "Bianca, these last days have been the most torturous of my life, but I'd do it all again if we ended up in this moment! I would walk through fire for you," he cupped her face and wiped away her tears! “Really,” she needed affirmation that she wasn’t hearing things? “1000%! I love you, Bianca Mortimer. I love you,” he pointed at her!
