Chapter 3

902 Words
As soon as I stepped foot into the cave I felt cold shivers running up and down my spine. But, I was not backing down now. I held my head up high and walked in with pride. I kept on telling myself, You're a brave girl, you're a brave girl, Jane. Suddenly, I heard scrapping on the tunnel walls that screeched so loudly that it had deafened me. I spun around by reaction and stared at the still, mocking smirk of nothingness. I turned back around and took a deep breath sucking in as much air as I possibly could, and puffed it all back out. I continued walking, and after a while, I heard the same scraping sound. My eyes widened with fear. I was wrong! The left tunnel was the correct one. The writing on my hands was nothing but a coincidence or trick. Moaned my mind. I looked over at my hands, again and the writing had changed. What!? How?! Shouted my brain. It had now said, " Run while you still have legs." What is the total hell! screamed my brain in disbelief. Without a moment's hesitation, I sprinted back to the start. But before I could dive out, it closed. A huge flat rock came crashing down, blocking me from exiting. My mouth gaped open in total surprise. "Why me?!" I yelled while banging on the rock. "What did I do?!" "Help me!" "Please!" I dropped to my knees and bawled my eyes red. I cried so much that my eyes started to sting. I then heard the familiar scraping sound. I stood up and spun around so fast that my hair spun with me and whipped me in the face like a horsewhip snake. I looked around but saw nothing there, once again. I removed the hair that stuck unto my wet face and stared furiously at whatever was in there with me. "Whoever or whatever you are, come and get me. But I am not going down without a fight!" I stomped. I held both fists up to my face preparing to fight whatever was there. "Come and get me!" I shouted bravely. I then saw writing being pasted on the left side of the wall further in front of me. I walked up to it and saw that it stated, Nice legs. In black tar. I looked at my legs and said, "Oh yeah, they are nice." with a smile. Then I soon caught up on what it meant and gulped. I stood there frozen in place for about a minute. I soon shook it off and walked up to the writing. I tried to understand the science behind it but all of my guesses made no logical sense. I looked around again and saw a small area slightly glistening. The tunnel wasn't as dark so it looked like the fading light was reflecting on something. I looked away quickly and thought, What is over there? Is that the thing that is meant to hurt me? It's invisible. I concluded. I acted like I didn't notice and pretended to be confused. After all, I'm a blonde so whoever or whatever was there would not expect me to have wits. To be honest, I hate when people would tell me that I'm dumb because I'm a blonde. But because of that stupid stereotype, I might win this game. I heard the scrapping on the wall yet again and continued to act confused and afraid. It sent me all the way to the other end of the tunnel. I was walking backward so that I could keep an eye on it. Suddenly, it dashed back to the rock but I didn't follow because one, I didn't know what it was going to do and two, I had to continue my act, pretending that I couldn't see it. The rock lifted! What the?! Was it was supposed to distract me from the real thing? I darted to the opening but before I could even taste victory it slammed down before me! I was now fed up! This game was seriously getting on my nerves! "Ahhhh!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. Causing all of the air to escape my body. I laid back on the rock and dragged myself down slowly. I planted my entire face in the palm of both hands and brought up my knees, but I then rose up my head. I stood up and faced the rock. I shouted, "No! You will not break me! You have to put me through way worse before you could make me shed one more tear! One way or the other, whether I am destined to or not I will get out alive! You could drain every drop of blood from my body, you could chop off all of my limbs and digest them, you could make me suffer to my last breath but I promise. Hell, I swear! I will not shed one droplet of a tear! I swear on my goddamn life! I shan't shed a tear!" And moments after my speech the rock instantly lifted. A/N Hope you enjoyed it!
