Chapter 2

I had reclaimed part of my sanity, and with it came fragments of last night's memories. The sporadic sights played over and over in my head like a dream. I hazily recall speaking with him. Then, it appeared as though the two of us were drawn to and found spiritual solace in one another. After kissing, we were unable to think clearly. It was difficult to tell if we were just drunk or if we were really into each other. I was afraid to give it any more thought. To console myself, I simply pretended that I had just come from a night of charming and lovely dreams. I hoped I wouldn't run into him again. I gave the man on the bed one last, long glance. I'd never run into him again. I checked the room to make sure there was nothing that might reveal my identity, then slipped on my high heels, snatched up my handbag, and prepared to bolt out of the hotel without turning around. However, the door was the first to open. The man outside the door struck me, causing me to stumble. He was also not in a good place. The other party recoiled as my purse struck him hard in the chest. But he moved quickly and grabbed my waist. He instantly withdrew his hand and gave me a nice smile when I stood my ground. "Miss, I apologise." He's the Alpha from the Crossing Shadow Pack, and I knew who he was. And he was a total b*stard, just like Drake. They reportedly grew up together and had a close friendship their entire lives. They've always had an alliance among their packs. He gave me a friendly smile, but I could tell that he was surprised that I had entered his dear friend's chamber. Drake is present?" He gave me a curious look as he turned to face me. Even though I had already touched up my makeup and double-checked my work before leaving the house, I still felt bad when he looked at me. I gave him a short nod before lowering my head and moving on. I didn't want to interact with anyone who was working with the Dark Night Pack. He grabbed my wrist to stop me, but I had no idea what he had seen. He gave me a piercing look, but I couldn't tell what he was trying to say, so I quickly turned my face away. Why do you smell like Drake? He teasingly asked as he narrowed his attractive eyes. Did the two of you share a bed?" I must have been covered in the strong Drake odour due to the frenzy of last night. I yanked my wrist away from his hand out of a slight sense of embarrassment. Why is your brain so stupid yet your nose is so sharp? What else might I have left his room for? Poker game all night long?" He seems to find my words amusing. I didn't anticipate you to not only be gorgeous but also to have such a keen mouth, he said after holding his stomach and laughing for a while. I grinned wryly. How can you tell if I'm attractive or not when my face is covered in such heavy makeup?' Thank you for your kind words; however, it's unfortunate that we follow different paths. I didn't want to waste any more time speaking with Luke because he must have arrived by this point. I waved him off and walked away from the pair of men I didn't want to see again. I sprayed myself with perfume as I walked because I was worried Luke would find out. When I opened the door, I noticed Luke leaning against the vehicle and holding a cigarette in his thin fingers. He inhaled deeply and exhaled, instantly enveloping his lovely face in smoke. I realised at once that Luke was a really attractive man. I had spent my entire childhood with him, and I had seen his face so frequently that I had lost track of it. He was now tall and straight like a pine tree, standing next to the car. My steps were a touch sluggish because of the exceptionally frigid aura that was emanating from his entire body. His eyes suddenly became fixed, as if he had spotted me. He smiled at me as he extinguished the cigarette in his hand. I sensed a warming in the air around him. What happened to your face, Bianca? How did you become this way?" Luke finally noticed my horrible makeup as I drew nearer. He immediately held his gut and struggled not to chuckle. His face was going to change shape from how hard he was straining to hold it in. I punched him hard as I erupted into a fit of wrath over my humiliation. "This is the prevailing style. What are you making fun of?" Luke chuckled and narrowed his eyes as he submissively responded, "Yes, yes, yes." He agreed with me but reached into his pocket for a handkerchief to assist me in wiping my face. I seized the handkerchief from Luke because I was afraid Drake would notice my true appearance when he left the hotel. I'll handle it on my own. Drive your car quickly. I still have to get dressed. I'll be running late. "I know. Luke didn't notice my rudeness and considerately opened the door for me. " Get in the car, young Miss." I've always been impressed with Luke's driving prowess. He was at the meeting spot in only five minutes. Luke was nearly speeding along the road, which caught the attention of numerous traffic police officials. My father didn't make a big deal out of the fact that I didn't return last night, perhaps because I was on time. He merely gave me a little critical glance but said nothing further to place the blame on me. At this point in the meeting, people were still discussing topics that had already come up multiple times a few months before. Father was seated next to me, so I had to maintain an air of attentiveness even though I had long since lost my patience listening. At the conclusion of the conference, I had the distinct impression that the torture—which felt like being on pins and needles—was finally done. However, my father had to immediately call my name. I quickly got to my feet and turned to face my father. "Everyone, towards the end of this month, my eldest daughter will turn 18. It's also the day I give her our pack. The succession ceremony will take place then, and... My father addressed the elders from the stage, solemnly outlining the several issues that would arise after I assumed the role of Alpha. Since I was a young child, my father had been preparing me, and now, as he was about to step down, he had already thought of the final bit of assistance he needed to provide so that the elders would support and permit a seamless transfer of power. The instant my father stated that, the elders began to echo him since they had a great deal of respect for him inside the pack and had great confidence in him. Even in the way they regarded me, they displayed a new level of trust. After the meeting, his beta called my father to discuss ongoing and recent pack issues. Thankfully, he hadn't had the time to question me about what I did yesterday because he had been busy the entire time. I was nearby and peered at my father, who was busy. He had always impressed me with his ability to manage both major and minor issues inside the pack. The fact that the other pack members adored him greatly motivated me to secretly emulate him. I only wish I had one-tenth of my father's working prowess once I assumed the role of Alpha. When I left the room, Luke was still there to greet me. I was taken aback. The entire time, this person had been standing here. Luke waved enthusiastically at me as he spotted me. Should I send Bianca home?" You have been here waiting for me, right?", I hesitantly questioned. Luke rubbed his cheeks while avoiding his eyes. No, I simply happened to be walking past. I saw a red sports car approaching Luke's black automobile and stopping right next to it as I was about to refute him. The driver politely unlocked the back door after exiting the vehicle, and a stunning girl emerged. She appeared as delicate as a lotus blossom on a calm pond in her long, white dress. The stunning woman walked forward in front of Luke and me without any hesitation. She grabbed me with one hand while pushing Luke away with the other. She turned and gave me a beautiful grin, saying, "Sister, let's go home." She then gave Luke a daring brow lift. This is Lucia, my younger sister. Luke started to yell at Lucia with a stern expression, "Hey, I've been waiting here for Bianca for two hours, I--," but he quickly saw that he had made a mistake and immediately became silent. Luke caught Lucia's disapproving glare, as if she could see right through him. "With your guts, you'd have to wait a lifetime," said the speaker.
