Chapter 5

The teacher, Ms. Love said if one is rich, and one is not, it does not matter as long as you love each other and you love each other for the first week of school. Then she said something she should not have. She said her family was moving in two weeks because no one is allowed to know we are rich because, before Susan was born, they stole some money and, because of that, a lot of money. The next thing Susan knew was that she was being hugged hard and she liked how her friend was no longer upset with her but sad for her. When the report cards came home, both Annabelle and Susan had all A’s and extra points for learning that, no matter what stuck together. Annabelle was happy that her and Susan were getting along. It had been three weeks and the next day of school Susan was not there, so Annabelle got off the bus at Susan’s stop and went to her house to check on her, but the house was empty. Annabelle sat down and started to cry. Then a girl came riding her bike down the road and asked what was wrong. Annabelle was saying nothing. Then she looked up and saw the girl. It was Susan, and they were both happy to see each other. Then Susan said that she had moved closer to Annabelle. Annabelle and Susan hung out every day at Susan’s house and sometimes at Annabelle’s house.
