CHAPTER FIVE

2053 Words
AYANA’s POV. The whiff of his cologne filters into my nose before I raise my head up to meet his gaze. He is staring down at me, his lips pressed into a thin line. We have a scene together today and somehow I am already dreading it. Earlier I saw him act out his scene and I can’t lie, he is a natural which somehow doesn’t sit right with me. Since he is good, I do not have any reason to tell Malachi to replace him, it’s not like It is even my movie to begin with and seriously I do not even want to think about him. My whole mind is still fixated on my stalker and what he said last night. I came clean with Jack and told him, he promised to get to the bottom of it but somehow a feeling of dread is still lingering in the pit of my stomach. “A dollar for your thoughts?” He asks but I continue to ignore him. Maybe he will go away when I don’t answer him, they always do. “Are you going to ignore me?” Kayden asks me again, this time more persistently, “we both have a scene coming up, don’t you think we should get to know each other. The more familiar we are, the more the scene will come out nice. Haven’t you heard of that? “Please, go away. I am not in the mood to talk to you or anyone at the moment” But this man is as stubborn as a bull and he won’t leave me the hell alone. He pulls out one of the chairs and lowers himself on it, his gaze not leaving me for even a moment. “Is everything fine?” “Can you quit it?” I flare up. “What part of leave me alone don’t you f*****g understand?” There is an edge in my voice but I clearly do not care, this man is annoying to say the least. “Kayden” someone finally calls out to him, “it’s time for you to get into your costume” “I’m coming” he returns his focus to me again, this time a smirk dancing around his lips, “I like to do everything in one take. I hope you don’t mess this up” “Why do you keep talking to me like I am your mate?” The words are out of my mouth before I try to even stop myself. “You are just two years my senior” After that, he pulls his body off the chair and I find myself for a split second comparing him to Jack. Jack wouldn’t even measure up to his shoulders if he is standing here at the moment, he is f*****g tall. “See you later, sweetheart” With a wink, he turns around and walks away. My eyes remain on him until he disappears into his tent. Fuck me! What the heck! Why am I comparing him to my fiancé? Kayden is just a spoiled little brat, I shouldn’t even be thinking about him in the first place. He is just an entitled trust fund baby and I…well, I am also that but I worked hard for every single thing I get. “It’s time for you to get ready ma’am” Teresa’s voice jolts me out of my train of thoughts, “you are shooting in thirty minutes. “Sure, let’s go” Thirty minutes later, I step out of my tent and my eyes immediately catch the man standing in the distance speaking to the director. He looks completely different from the man I knew. He is dressed in a pair of loose faded jeans, an ash vest which hugs his chiseled abs perfectly highlighting them. On his hair is a bandana tied and he looks quite ruggedy with some makeup wounds on his body. Somehow he looks hot despite the air of mystery surrounding his looks. I have read the script and I know what this scene entails. This is when he rescues me from falling into a marsh alongside his dog whom he loves so much. In this scene, we finally kiss after waking in silence for days. I don’t know why the director wants us to shoot this scene first, we haven’t even finished shooting our individual scenes yet. Letting out a sigh, I make my way towards them and his lips curl into a tiny smile when he sees me. His eyes travel over me and I feel my body heat up. There is something about this bad boy standing next to me, looking all sultry and hard. “You clean up well” Kayden says as his eyes sweep over me. Unlike him, I am dressed in a white dress that has become a bit dirty from walking days unending. I choose to use my normal hair which has been pulled into a messy bun and a pair of old looking boots. The two of us actually look like survivors. “Now I am eager to see how the two of you will perform in this scene” the director gives a toothy grin as his eyes dart across us, “you both know what you should right? I want all the emotions you can feel in this scene the two of you” “You got it,” Kayden responds, his eyes still on me. “Of course” “Good” he flashes another smile before yelling out, “we commence shooting in five!” He walks away leaving the two of us alone again, something I clearly hate. “Are you ready for this?” Kayden asks me, “Are you sure you can handle me?” “What do you mean, handle you?” A look of disgust flashes through my face but he scoffs, not saying anything further. Unwillingly, my eyes travel over him again and I drink in his sight, every little bit of it. The way he carries himself, his entire physique. He is so different from Jack yet somehow he manages to get on my last nerves like a f*****g younger brother. Well, I have a younger brother and he certainly doesn’t act like this entitled man here. “That’s our cue!” His voice cuts into my train of thought and I immediately drag my gaze away from him. I see a smirk lingering on his face. Before he can have any time to gloat, I turn around and walk away. The only thing I want to do now is get this over with and go home. Finally, the scene starts. Kayden, whose name is Ryder in the movie and I are both walking side by side, fatigue cursing through our bodies. The expression on Kayden’s face has changed so much that I find it hard to believe he is the same person from earlier. He looks so focused like he was meant to act this role. “Let’s do this in one take” his voice rings in my head and I let out a raspy sigh..let’s finish this in one take. “I am hungry!” I start to talk, “Ryder, can we take some rest” “Of course not,” he seethes, “we have to get to a good place before nightfall. If you are going to drag me and my dog back, maybe I will leave you here” the emotions are brimming, he is a f*****g good actor. I can feel my whole body resonating with heat as his eyes stare back at me, waiting for me to deliver my own lines. “Very well then” I huff, “I am not taking a step forward again” In anger, I turn and start to walk towards the opposite direction, he doesn’t follow me. The script says so but why do I want him to ditch the script and maybe pull me into his embrace?… What the hell, Ayana! “I am seriously going to leave you” he calls after me but when I open my mouth to answer, a scream tears from my lips. For everything to be almost real, I had asked the set designer and Malachi too to make the marsh real. I want to feel every single emotion there is to feel. “Help me!” I yell out as the marsh continues to swallow me down to my knees. I hear someone running towards me but stops when he gets to the foot of the marsh. “You are always very stubborn, Olivia!” His voice rings out, “I am tempted to let you stay there for a while” “Will you help me or not?” I bark in anger and the man playing the dog responds with another barking which kind of irritates me the more. “If only you promise to listen and not to throw a tantrum!” Anger envelops me. Not anger as the character Olivia but as the real life Ayana. I hate that tinge in his voice like he is enjoying every moment of this! “I am waiting!” “Fine!” Raw emotion pour out of me and i clasp my hand together, trying to force myself to be calm. I have an inkling that the director might ask us to retake the scene. “Good girl!” His deep baritone rings out and before I can actually comprehend that, a hand snake around my waist and I let out a little gasp which I am sure was caught on camera. His body is this close, any closer and our lips might actually touch. I can feel the tension, the heat and every damn thing. I should be thinking about Jack only and nothing more, not this huge handsome man in front of me. “Easy, sweetheart!” His voice rings in my ear, “you look like you are about to rip my clothes off and f**k the hell out of me” “What the…..” my voice trails off when he pulls me out of the marsh in one swift tug and I land in his embrace, my cheeks brushing his chest. “Cut!!” I hear the director’s voice from the distance and I immediately pull away from Kayden. This man is going to be the death of me, I am so sure of that. We didn’t kiss but somehow I know everyone can feel what’s in the aurZ “That was fantastic” the director beams as he covers the distance between us, “I almost didn’t want it to end. I could feel the hate yet the tension from the both of you. Welldone, guys!” “Was it that good?” I ask to be sure and he nods vigorously like someone has just offered him a piece of candy. “If you both continue like this. We will be done with filming in no time. I am glad you became the lead actor, Mr Kayden” Kayden smiles at him but does not say anything, his eyes remain fixated on me. “You have one more scene today. Kayden” he says again, “better get ready” “Sure” I watch him clench his jaw together, his eyes narrowing down my body. I can see the want in his eyes like he wants to pounce on me and eat me up. “You should get changed” he says before turning around and walking away. “Well, I don’t need your advice” I call after him and he abruptly stops, turning around and walking back to me with such ferocity, I find myself taking a step back. “You are f*****g lucky, Ayana” he groans, “the only thing I want to do now is kiss you until you are out of breath and I can’t take my eyes off the fact that I can see through your dress. Now madam elder, f*****g get changed or don’t blame me for what happens” Balling his hands together, he turns around and angrily storms off leaving me the most petrified since the first time I saw him.
