A Warning ‎ ‎That night, Lia received a phone call. ‎ ‎No number appeared on the screen. ‎ ‎She answered. ‎ ‎"Hello?" ‎ ‎Nothing. ‎ ‎Then a man's voice. ‎ ‎"Stop searching." ‎ ‎Lia recognized it. ‎ ‎Adrian. ‎ ‎"Where are you?" ‎ ‎"Somewhere you will never find." ‎ ‎"What do you want?" ‎ ‎"Your father's evidence." ‎ ‎"I don't have it." ‎ ‎"You have more than you realize." ‎ ‎The call ended. ‎ ‎Lia immediately called Matteo. ‎ ‎He arrived within twenty minutes. ‎ ‎"Did he threaten you?" ‎ ‎"Yes." ‎ ‎"What exactly did he say?" ‎ ‎Lia told him. ‎ ‎Matteo looked toward the windows. ‎ ‎"We need to move." ‎ ‎"Move where?" ‎ ‎"Somewhere safe." ‎ ‎"I'm not running." ‎ ‎"Lia, this isn't about bravery." ‎ ‎"Then what is it about?" ‎ ‎"Staying alive." ‎ ‎She stared at him. ‎ ‎"I won't let him scare me." ‎ ‎Matteo sighed. ‎ ‎"Neither will I." ‎ ‎They returned to the study. ‎ ‎The hidden compartment was empty. ‎ ‎Someone had searched it. ‎ ‎Lia looked around. ‎ ‎"Adrian." ‎ ‎Matteo shook his head. ‎ ‎"Maybe." ‎ ‎Then he noticed something beneath the desk. ‎ ‎A small piece of paper. ‎ ‎He picked it up. ‎ ‎It contained a list of names. ‎ ‎Morettis. ‎ ‎Romanos. ‎ ‎And one final name. ‎ ‎Elena Moretti. ‎ ‎Lia stared at it. ‎ ‎"Why is my aunt on this list?" ‎ ‎Matteo didn't answer. ‎ ‎Because Elena suddenly appeared in the doorway. ‎ ‎She looked frightened. ‎ ‎"Lia." ‎ ‎Lia turned. ‎ ‎"Tell me the truth." ‎ ‎Elena looked at the paper. ‎ ‎Then at Matteo. ‎ ‎And finally at Lia. ‎ ‎"I need to tell you something." ‎
