Chapter Four: Andreas almost dies

1042 Words
Thalis summoned a torrent of water, attempting to divert the beast. Determination shone in his eyes, his jaw clenched as he fought to protect us. The cavern trembled violently as the beast crashed into Thalis' water, sending waves crashing against the walls. Silas roared, urging us to scatter, his sword flashing in the dim light as he prepared to face the beast alone. Valentina leaped aside, her heart pounding in her chest. Andreas stood frozen, shadows dancing around him as he stared into the abyss. Loukas stood beside him, his heart pounding with fear. Alexia's mind raced; we needed a plan—and quickly. She stared back at the void, her eyes wide with shock and fear. The Oracle was gone—our only hope of stopping the war was lost forever. But there was no time to grieve; we had to survive. Alexia turned to us, her voice resolute amidst the chaos, "We fight, or we fall." The beast roared, its eyes fixed on Andreas as it charged. Silas lunged forward, his sword glinting in the faint light. "Move!" he shouted at Andreas. But Andreas remained entranced, his eyes still fixed on the void. Silas's heart sank as he stared back at his friend. He would die before letting anything happen to him—but he was no match for the beast. Valentina sprinted towards them, her eyes wild with fear as she stared back at the void. She had never seen Andreas like this before—and it terrified her. Thalis summoned a massive wave, sending it crashing against the beast to buy them time. Loukas and Menelous flanked him, staring back at the creature with fierce determination. Alexia called out commands, her voice steady despite the fear racing through her veins. "Silas, Valentina, protect Andreas. Thalis, Loukas, Menelous—hold off the beast." The beast roared in frustration, its eyes fixed greedily on Andreas's frozen form. Silas stood firm, his grip on his sword tightening as he prepared to face the beast alone. He positioned himself between Andreas and the charging beast, his heart pounding in his chest. His sword gleamed in the faint light, his knuckles white as he gripped the hilt. The ground trembled under his feet, but he didn't move. He'd die before letting anything happen to Andreas. Valentina reached them, her eyes wild with fear as she stared back at the void. She grabbed Andreas's arm, yanking him back to reality. He blinked, staring back at her in confusion. "Valentina?" The ground shook violently as the beast slammed into Thalis's water. Silas glanced back at Andreas, a mix of relief and emotion in his eyes. He swallowed hard, trying to ignore the ache in his heart. Andreas frowned, his eyes locked on Silas's face as he tried to make sense of what was happening. "Silas?" Silas just stared back at him, his grip on his sword tightening as he prepared for the beast's next attack. The cavern shook violently as the beast slammed into Thalis' water, sending rocks crashing down around us. Thalis gritted his teeth, trying to keep up with the beast's relentless attacks. The beast lunged again, its eyes locked greedily on Andreas. Silas shouted for us to regroup, his voice echoing off the cave walls. Valentina pulled Andreas back, her grip on his arm like iron. Thalis unleashed another torrent of water, slowing the beast's advance. Loukas and Menelous flanked the creature, our eyes locked on its massive form as we prepared to fight. Alexia scanned the cavern, her mind searching for an opening. The pulsing void in the distance beckoned at Andreas once more. He gazed at it, his heart hammering against his ribs. He blinked, trying to regain his clarity, but his vision remained blurred, his thoughts muddled. Silas countered with a swift, precise sword strike, momentarily repelling the beast. Valentina positioned herself beside Andreas, her heart still racing wildly in her chest. She glanced back at him, her eyes wide with fear as she urged him to get behind her. But Andreas just stared back at her in confusion. The ground shook violently as the beast charged again, sending rocks and debris crashing down around us. We braced ourselves for impact, our hearts pounding wildly in our chests. A figure emerged from the shadows, cloaked in darkness. It positioned itself between us and the beast, casting a protective barrier around Andreas and Valentina. The beast's claws scraped against the invisible shield, its eyes fixed greedily on the pair. Silas stared back at the figure, stunned into silence for a moment. He tightened his grip on his sword, preparing to fight this new threat. Alexia's eyes widened in shock as she stared back at the figure. "What are you doing?" she demanded. The figure remained silent, its eyes fixed on the barrier as it struggled to keep up. The beast roared in frustration, its hot breath washing over us as it tried to break through the barrier. Thalis took advantage of the distraction, summoning a massive wave to push the creature back. Loukas and Menelous grouped with the others, our faces pale as we stared back at the mysterious figure. We had never seen anything like this before, and we didn't know if it was friend or foe. But for now, it was an ally. The figure remained silent, its eyes locked on the barrier as it struggled to keep up. Valentina took Silas' place, standing before the beast as it slowly regained its footing. Her eyes remained locked on Andreas, her heart still racing wildly in her chest. Author's Note: She knew he was entranced by the void, and she knew Silas was trying to snap him out of it. But she also knew they didn't have much time. The beast would be back on its feet soon, and when that happened, all hell would break loose. Silas grabbed Andreas by the shoulders, shaking him roughly. "Snap out of it," he shouted, desperation in his voice. Andreas blinked, confusion clouding his features as he stared back at Silas. "What's going on?" The beast roared, its eyes fixed greedily on Andreas once more. Valentina braced herself for impact, preparing to defend herself and Andreas against the creature's next attack.
