Vengeance in the Shadows

The cause of Laura's death.

Richard smiled,he admired the lady's courage. He was not interested in her,too pale for his taste. He wanted to teach her a lesson,to get sense knocked into her middle class brains. It had been long since he had shown someone where they belonged.

Peggy knocked twice,the chaffeur who drives her new boss had dropped in front of her apartment. She had been thinking on how to tell Laurette about her boss requirement. Laurette was a very stubborn woman and especially how she talked to her boss,seems she doesn't like him a bit. But who wouldn't like such a wealthy good looking man?

Laurette looked across the window. The road was quite busy as even most people wants to get reach their house quickly. Nowadays,in the town rain had been falling non stop, though not heavily but everyone could feel the cold. She suddenly caught a glimpse of the jeep which the arrogant man had alighted from. What the hell was Peggy doing in his car? Anyways,he is her boss after all.

What if she had brought him to their place?No! Peggy won't be that stupid. Peggy stepped down and she watched as she entered the building.

As soon as she heard the knock,she stood up and went to the door. She opened it and Peggy entered dropping her bag on the sofa then collapsed on the sofa slowly. ' Seems you are having a good time with your new boss, isn't that his Jeep?' Laurette asked. Peggy sat up, removing her heels. ' As you can see,you have to be good friends of famous people so you can also be popular my dear laurette.' She replied as she stood up, taking off her necklace.

' That's not the kind of people you mingle with Peggy,not that particular man.' Laurette said emphasizing. ' What do you mean?' Peggy asked looking at her surprisingly. ' You mean I should do that crazy stuff you did then, c'mon he is my boss......

' More like you are flirting with him?Well,i don't have problem with him being your boss but........' He is bad?He is a wicked man? Come on Laurette, however you had a chance of knowing him well then but you showed him your everlasting talent and walked out from him!' Peggy snapped at her.

' I know him well than you.' Laurette muttered remembering her horrible past. ' He is a really cute and kind guy, Laurette. Get over your hatred for men.' She added and entered the bathroom.

The hatred for men had lived in her heart for the past six years. Ever since her elder sister died ,she had to cater for herself and live on her own, their parents died in a ghastly accident when they were small but they had a grandmother. Since their parents died,her sister had been taking care of her and their sweet grandmother. Laura,her sister had a job as a secretary then and they lived in happiness and contentment until a man arrived in her sister's life.

' Laurette?can you please hand me a towel?' Peggy called from the bathroom and Laurette stood up immediately,walked to the wardrobe and brought out the blue towel wrapped neatly. She went to the bathroom and knocked once, Peggy opened the door slightly and collected the towel from her. ' Thank you, darling.' She said and closed the door.

A man whose thoughts was evil and was only to take away her sister's happiness,they fell in love though Laurette then did know much of him,but his surname rang in her ears till now.

MORGAN.

' Unexpectedly, she got pregnant and after she told him the news,he vanished into thin air after warning her to get rid of the unborn child but she didn't obey. Laura,too heartbroken ,searched everywhere but it seems he left her for good. They continue with their lives,then an ill fated day,after coming back from college. She found her sister dangling with a rope from the fan...with the unborn child!

A rolling tear fell from her eyes to her hand and she quickly cleaned it before Peggy starts questioning her. She had only a half burnt picture of him as laura had burned everything about him the day she committed suicide, although Laurette didn't think her brave sister would commit a sucide. As soon as she saw Peggy's boss,she knew he was the one...he was the one that inflicted pain and suffering on her family. She promised herself that he will also be murdered so the scores can be settled. Of course she tried telling the cops,a man whose surname was morgan was involved in her sister's death but they didn't believe the lean girl then.

' My boss seem interested in you.' Peggy announced as she came out from the room. Laurette had an idea,she could probably ask peggy to get her a job in the company to get closer to her prey. ' Really?' Laurette asked, sounding as if she had interest in whatever Peggy was saying.

' Yes....he even.....well, actually.....

' Can I get a job at your company, Peggy?' She asked . The stuttering Peggy became shocked,she became happy. She didn't even have to ask and beg Laurette to come to the company.

' Well..... yes,we could go together on monday.' She replied, drying her hair carefully. Laurette observed that was too fast or he had asked Peggy to bring her to the office? Hmmmm, interesting. He was bringing his death closer to him. Laurette beamed.

' It gonna be lots of fun Laurette,you and I !' Peggy said with happiness all over her round face.

' Of course......lots and lots of fun.' Laurette said to herself. She stood up and went to the dining table, though their rented room wasn't really wide but they made good use of it. She had recently met Peggy while she was working as a waiter in a r&r restaurant. Her grandmother offered to go to the old age home after her sister's untimely death and Laurette promised to always take care of her and bring her food. It was against Laurettes' wish but she had to comply as she was staying with Peggy and wouldn't want to give her any trouble.

Most of the things in the room was Laurettes'. Them living together had an agreement, Peggy went to office everyday while Laurette stayed behind working as a waiter in the restaurant whenever she is on and those are Saturdays and Sundays afternoons.

After taking dinner,they went to bed. Laurette mind was filled with hatred and bitterness,she needed to see Peggy's new boss soon,she couldn't wait any longer. Her sister's death would not be in vain.
