Keith had been worried since Danny’s incident at work. The shadows that loomed over Danny were palpable, and he felt the urge to check in on his husband. Today, he decided to surprise Danny with a visit, hoping to lift his spirits. She made some delicious meal to surprise him for lunch, just to make the atmosphere spicier and more loveable.
As Keith approached the office building, he felt a mixture of excitement and apprehension. The lobby was bustling with employees, but he quickly found the elevator that led to Danny's floor. The soft ding of the elevator doors opening brought him face-to-face with the office’s open layout, where he could see employees at their desks, engaged in their tasks.
Walking towards Danny’s cubicle, Keith's heart raced. He spotted Faith, the secretary, chatting animatedly with another coworker. There was something about her demeanor that set off alarm bells in Keith’s mind. She laughed too loudly, her gestures too animated. As he drew closer, he could overhear snippets of their conversation.
“Did you see the way he handled that?” Faith said, her tone slightly mocking. “I mean, really? Who does that?”
Keith felt a pang of discomfort. He was about to turn away when Danny stepped out of his office, a weary smile breaking his solemn expression upon seeing Keith. But before he could reach Danny, Faith approached him, a glint of mischief in her eyes.
“Hi there! You must be Keith,” she chirped, extending a hand. “Danny talks about you all the time.”
Keith shook her hand, forcing a smile. “Nice to meet you, Faith. I was just dropping by to see how Danny's doing.”
“Oh, he’s managing,” Faith replied, her smile not quite reaching her eyes. “You know how it is—some days are just harder than others.” She glanced back at Danny, who was now walking toward them, a look of confusion on his face.
“Everything okay?” Danny asked, his brow furrowed with concern as he noticed the exchange.
“Just getting to know your lovely secretary,” Keith replied, trying to keep his tone light.
Faith interjected, “Oh, I was just telling Keith how busy you’ve been. But I’m sure you’ll bounce back soon! You always do.”
Danny’s expression darkened slightly, and he turned to Keith. “Let’s talk in my office?”
As they moved away from Faith, Keith couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. He glanced back to see Faith watching them, her expression unreadable. Once inside Danny’s office, the door clicked shut behind them.
“Is everything alright?” Danny asked, his voice low.
“Honestly? I’m not sure. Faith seems… different. I don’t like the way she was talking about you,” Keith admitted, his concern evident.
Danny sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Yeah, things have been a bit tense. I’ve been dealing with a lot, and I don’t want to burden you with it.”
Keith stepped closer, his resolve strengthening. “You’re not a burden, Danny. We’re in this together. But if something’s happening here—if Faith is crossing lines or if there’s more going on than you’re telling me—I need to know.”
Danny looked down, a flicker of uncertainty passing over his face. “I’ll handle it. I promise. But I appreciate you coming here. It means a lot.”
Just as the tension between them began to ease, the door swung open unexpectedly. Faith stood there, her expression an unsettling mix of surprise and something else—perhaps annoyance.
“Sorry to interrupt, but Danny, you have that meeting in ten,” she said, her voice almost too sweet.
“Thanks, Faith,” Danny replied, the tension returning as she stepped back, allowing him to usher Keith to the door.
As Keith left the office, he couldn’t shake the feeling that this was only the beginning of a much larger problem. The surprise visit, meant to uplift, had instead unveiled a troubling dynamic he couldn’t ignore.
Keith went home alone, having that feeling that everything will get better soon and expecting to see is lovely husband doing well.
She was on shower when some call come in, and she quickly left the bathroom, and dialed the number back, it was he mom,
