Chapter four

Elvin went home and left me With Agatha, Agatha when will i know its time to let Elvin know the truth? I don't want him to come to my house again. I said, Deborah my friend, she called, like i do say, i will say it again, love is just a word until you find someone to give you it meaning before you can tell of what it all about. The person that hardly open his mouth and tell you he loves you i believe he should love you most than the one that always disturbed you with issues of love. Though i can't choose for you who you should love,but only advise you on whom you should choose. Before i answer your question Deborah, let me also ask you a question, who do you love most? She asked, Eric, i replied. Then follow your heart and tell Elvin the true and face whatever be his reactions. But before then be sure that Eric will not disappoint you one day she advised. I pleaded with her to go with me to Eric house so that we can have a better discussion about it and she concord so we left for Eric house. To our greatest surprise on reaching there,his mother welcome us and said "welcome my daughter in law" I wonder who told her that, though i came and asked for Eric when i wanted to read "the future" the book i borrowed in times back from Eric, thanks you ma,we responded. Is Eric around? Agatha asked. No i sent him on an era,she replied. Tell him we were here if he return. I will, my daughter she responded, my regards to your parents she said and we left. Eric came to our house that his mother delivered my massage so he came to find out what it all about. I gave him a chair and he sat down, Eric, i want to confirm something from you and please tell me the truth please, i said, what is it? Am ready to tell you anything if i know, he said. Eric, do you love me? I asked, at first he never wanted to say a word but i keep on asking the same question.

Deborah, you know well that i love you but what can i do now that you are with some else? I can ask you to end your courtship with Elvin because i love you, but you know what you want for yourself,he spoke out. Eric, i know it my decision to choose who i want and you are the person i wanted for myself. And so what do you intend to do with Elvin? He asked? Well, i will try to make him understand that i don't initially love him and we will both not be happy if we ended up together in marriage and so,to avoid that is better we separated now, i replied, though i know it wouldn't be that easy, i added, till then, he replied as he also beg to be on his way.

Now how to approach Elvin remained my biggest problem, because i don't want him to be hurt when i will tell him all this issue, i was still thinking of how to approach Elvin when i heard someone calling my name, i went closer and found out that it was my mother calling, seat down my daughter, there is something i wanted to tell you concerning your life, i sat down as she instructed, my daughter, every that goes up must surely come down but with the exception of age,she started, as you can see you are no longer a child but a young adult who is old enough to start bearing her own child. I don't understand you mama,what do you mean? I asked. I mean you have to bring me a suitor by now so that you can go to your husbands house or are you not ready for marriage yet?

I don't know what to say,one mind was telling me to tell her about two young men anf seek for her advise and another was saying no,i was still thinking when she notice i was lost in thought. Deborah.... Deborah.... She called back my attention, what are thinking about? I notice you are lost in thought. Yes mama,it is about these two young men, who are they? and what about them? She inquired to learn about them.

I narrated the whole story to her and also asked for her opinion.

She confirm to me that she remembered Elvin, the day he came to our house but Eric,she don't.

By the way,i can only advise you to choose who you love most and let go the other one, she advised, do you know? my daughter that these days,before a man will pay a bride price of a lady, he have to inquire to know about the girl and her family secretly, and if he found any fault from her that will be the end of their courtship, especially a girl that hang around with more than one man. Okay,i saw the reason why i should end up one of my relationship soonest to avoid such problems, even though the two young men know each other.

My daughter,i want to tell you a story, she said. Am listening i replied.

There was girl named Aisha who's mother died at her birth,she was nursed and brought up by her family through the help of a step mother who takes her as her own child. Aisha have all she needed in life, but she was stubborn. She prefer doing what the family forbid, whenever Aisha is queried, she cried and say she is maltreated because her mother is late. Suddenly, she started going out and returning late. The parent advised and advised but she couldn't listen. Men started following her home, she was advised to settle with a single person but as usual she will not listen. Outsiders who have no knowledge of Aisha attitude blame and insult her step mother that she's the reason Aisha hardly stay at home. Aisha hardly do any house chores,will reverse the story outside.

After her secondary school, Aisha gained admission into the tertiary institutions where someone impregnated her and denied. That got her dropped out of school and returned home with the pregnancy. She tarnish the image of the family and also called insult to the family. It was at these moment that she remembered and know the important of those advised she ignored in the time past. She cried and cried but all in vain. She returned to her parents and seek for forgiveness and they did forgive her.

She give birth to a male child without a valid know father. The boy grow up and was called a bastard among his peer,he will return home everyday with cry and asked his mother of his father.

One day he carry knife that he will kill the mother if she did show him his father, thanks to neighbors who came and rescue her. Her son keep on threaten her,one day show the boy a man and said he is his true father but denied his pregnancy, he boy actually looks like the father, The resemblance between the father and the son is the reason that convinced the man to accept this boy as his son.

It's a bitter experience but Aisha learnt her reason. Anyone who copy her life style will also have similar experience in life.
