Chapter 2

1342 Words
The conversation went on and on. Adie found out that Aldrich just broke up with his long time girlfriend and that is why their group decided to go out that night. Throughout the night, Adie has been looking at Aldrich who is now a little drunk. There is something about Aldrich that caught Adie’s attention. She wanted to know more about him and his life. She got curious. Aldrich felt like Adie is looking at him and he turns his gaze on her but she did not turn back around and gave him a smirk. Aldrich knew how handsome he is but it is the first time that someone actually looks in his eyes directly. Mostly, girls would turn around when he gazes back so they would think that they are not gazing at him, but not Adie. She’s not most of those women. “So, what do you do?” Adie heard Aldrich asked her. She drinks her brandy and replied, “I’m an entrepreneur.” She simply says. Aldrich saw Jayden chuckle and he just creases his brows in confusion as if asking what that is about. The night ended when Aldrich closes the door for Adie and Jayden. They were accompanied by a chauffeur. He thinks they just uber it but it was actually Adie’s driver. “Take care of them, would you?” Aldrich said to the driver, Michael and actually gave him a tip. “Thank you, Sir. Have a good night.” Michael said before he drove off. The guy in his late 40’s smiled warmly. “So he gave you a tip, huh?” Adie said, smirking. “Yes, maybe he thought that I’m an Uber driver.” He said, laughing. “What’s Uber?” Adie asked, looking confused. “That’s funny.” Michael replied and Adie just chuckles. Of course, she knows what an Uber is. The night goes by fast, Adie just took a shower and goes to her bed. It’s always the same for her for the past few years. She thought what it could be if she happened to go with Gabriel back then. What would she have right now? It’s not that she still loves him but sometimes, there’s this thought of “ifs”. She does not regret staying in the country because she became very successful in her business. Her parents are happy with what she has now. She’s an adopted and an only child of two doctors but they treat her like she’s their legitimate child. Even though she’s self a made millionaire, her parents are well off from the beginning. Her first millions were not actually from Jewelries but from her investments with bigger companies. When Adie woke up the next day, she has this throbbing headache. Well of course, from all the alcohol she drank last night, which definitely will happen. She walks towards her refrigerator and grab cold water so that she can stay hydrated. She was browsing her phone to read her emails and while she is busy getting the eggs and bacons too so she can prepare her breakfast. While she was cooking her breakfast, her phone vibrates and saw a text message she doesn’t expect – Aldrich’s.   Hi. Good morning, Adie. Please don’t get creep out because I texted your personal number. I’m just so lucky that Tom has Jayden’s and so I ask him to give me yours. I hope you don’t get angry at him. By the way, I hope you made it home safely and not having a hangover. Btw, the way you look at me last night is making me crazy.   She almost burnt my bacon as she was reading the last part over and over again. She quickly turns off the stove and put it in her plate before typing a reply for Aldrich.   Hello, it’s okay. Well, I’m a bit of a drinker that’s why I didn’t get too much headache. Kidding! My head is throbbing like crazy. PS. Hmm… because I just feel that something is missing in your story. She replied back at him and not even a minute, he replied back saying:   Of course, there is always missing in someone’s story. It was the first time that I talked to you. I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to let it all out in one night. Besides, I still haven’t heard your story too.   As Adie was eating my slightly burnt breakfast, she tries to reply to him too.   Now, you can tell me anything. It’s the second time that we’re talking. J   Aldrich: Well, it’s still early and I don’t think I can tell it to you over text message or even a phone call. Why don’t we meet sometime soon? Like, late? J Adie: That’s just smooth, but I still don’t know my schedule. I’ll tell you later. Aldrich: Alright, I’ll be waiting, Miss Beautiful Adie: Beautiful, my foot. Hahaha…   Adie doesn’t know what came to her but she’s just smiling widely all throughout the time she was talking to Aldrich. She even let him call her Adie. She’s always Aubrianna to strangers; Ms. Dione Grimaldi at work and Adie to her family and close friends. There’s something in him that intrigues her -- something new and unfamiliar. After 2 years, this is the first time she texted a guy that isn’t about work related. Well, except Jayden and her father of course. Today, she’s wearing a black above the knee The Belinda Coat by Giuliva Heritage without the ribbon while underneath it is a black and white dress. Her hair is just clipped on a stylish but simple way. The way Adie dresses is important to her. It makes her feel confident. Other people says she’s dresses to impress but not to her. For her, she dresses not just to feel superior but to express her mood is. Her assistant Martha knows it too. She’s wearing either white or black when she feels happy and wearing bold or pop out colors when she feels not in the mood with anything. Adie was busy looking at the reports handed to her by her assistant when she heard her phone rings and without looking, she answers it. “Grimaldi” she answered. “Well, someone’s serious today.” Adie heard from the other line. When she looks at who’s calling, she slightly smiles --- Aldrich. “Well, someone has to work to make it to the world.” She answered back, rolling her eyes but smiling. “I think I just heard rolling eyes there” Aldrich said and Adie just chuckles. “Well, about later? Have you checked your schedule? Am I gonna fit in there?” he asked. “Well, that sounds dirty. But, yes I will just finish what am I doing here and I’m free. Say, after an hour?” Adie jokingly said. “Well, let me pick you up. Where is your office, anyway?” Aldrich asked and surprisingly, Adie got shocked. He still doesn’t know. Maybe he did not googled her up. “How about, let’s just meet somewhere?” Adie asked. “Oh, okay sure. But you gotta let me pick you up sometimes.” Aldrich replied and made Adie chuckles. He’s expecting. “You’re too funny. Let’s just wait at the restaurant beside LʼÉpicier’s” “See you, Adie.”
