Solo Mission - I

The dream of being an Army really came into reality, only in the year 2026 after nearly decade of training. More or less, he was appointed as captain and operation head with only him as field man with his team back at B-PIT. Captain Dragon was only the name called in the premises by personnel and Lobzang by outsider. At times, he misses his second name Tiger, which would be cherished forever. He got another six more mates who holds vibrant importance and have to work together twenty four and seven hours.

Technology and intelligence department chief, Tshering Samdrup called by name Sam with two assistant Jatu and one female Kinzang wangmo, medical field specialist Keazang, who was his high school mate and the one who helped him during his first arrival at Thimphu hospital, Naku, pilot responsible for any flight and navy operations during emergency and last one, Dupthob as professional weather forecaster.  Seven of them are compressed team by name Beast solely responsible in planning, executing and operating solo mission in and out of the country.

Sam hold full responsibility in operating over all networks and satellite connectivity, his co-worker Jatu as professional hacker and Kinzang as technical software expert. In all, they are the ones who collects and disseminate precise information across the globe, maintaining high network connectivity in all the times and shutting down the system, if ever in red zone. Lobzang known as Dragon leads a team as well make his presence in diverse solo mission.

Bhutan-Pro Intelligence Team (B-PIT) got more than twenty mini- team with different name with not less than fifteen members in each. Every team are being given different mission in diverse field. However, the team Beast was recently formed with only seven members and holds a precise name and responsibility under B-PIT. The first mission for the team was to survey and look into the possibility and feasibility to extend B-PIT branch base within the country.

The mission demands a very precise and clear cut results. The execution have to fulfill the terms and conditions of B-PIT. At the end of operation, team should be able locate five military base. It should be hidden from the world and have to be at high mountains or impenetrable jungle. The network connectivity should be speed regardless of spurs and ravines. As a rule, the spot should be environmental friendly, precise data collections and properly analyzed survey never compromising climatic condition of the place.

It was their first mission and everyone was busy with their own job. Captain Dragon with Sam and other two assistance mainly focused on studying and analyzing the subtropical and alpine region through internet. Dupthobs responsibility to predict weather forecast for year in those region. Naku to arrange suitable fastest chopper and back up transportation. Keazang to collect medicine, first aid kits and health reports. After reviewing whole region, they were able to capture a whole picture of climate condition, surviving methods, network connectivity, short-safe and fastest route for one whole year in two weeks.

The mission was highly confidential in B-PIT itself, so have to review more than three times before they mainly start with field operations. Lobzang, Captain Dragon was managing to keep his team fully engaged with works for next five months. Moreover his friend and co-worker Sam was fully prepared to combat twenty four seven as a chief of intelligence and networking in his department. Captain Dragon was lucky to have great and brave team, despite only him in field operations.

The team Beast mainly focused on boundaries of the nation as it was mainly for its security. Captain Dragon gathered his team for last and final conference before a week. The work out got over with fixed date, time and conditions for mission execution with another back up plan, B and C if plan A fails. The team Beast went out for bottom ups as first team to execute first mission in the history of Bhutan and for successfully coming with series of plan.

The mission was to be executed for a duration of five months continuously, starting from subtropical region locating best two military base and Alpine region with three military base as termination. Captain Dragon was a sole field operators as outnumbered would only provoke people thoughts and was ready with weapons and other necessary equipment. Naku prepared with any flight, Navy and Land Services with Captains order, anytime. Sam and other two friends to locate and pass any misinformation, deliver efficient networks and any other demand from Captain in the field. To close, Dupthob ready to give correct weather forecast and any alteration in climate within first hours and Keazang ready with any sorts of medical involvement.

As it was a real and first mission for Lobzang, he was bit apprehensive on the day of departure. He took out his name tag for the first time in eight years from the neck and letter to his near and dear ones handing over to Keazang and Sam. It was mainly to undercover his death and remain anonymous and letter was his message to his mom, girlfriend and friends. He delivered those belongings to them and set out for the mission.  

The day was on track in Private towards southern part of the country. The B-PIT chopper wasn’t given a preferences as the whole globe would be on watch. Naku was smart enough to arrange unanticipated and secured mode of transport as it was a significant and dangerous mission. In twenty minutes, they were down to operational area. They cannot even halt a chopper for minute as, back up intelligence team at headquarters were warning them with many eyes on watch.

Captain Dragon decided to descend with fast-roping method without halting a chopper. He had to take a dangerous decision with arm loads and weaponry with him. The intelligence team told him with possibilities to descend within minute or others who are on the watch will suspect the pause. Medical fitness of captain at that moment and weather forecast calculated the risk ahead and told him that he have to wear oxygen mask to reduce breathing problems and side-effect.

Captain Dragon got another two challenges, one to touch down in minute and second to be equipped with those reminders from his team. Captain was ready with everything and probed his team to remind him, if anything suspicious things happen during the process. Right after that, he jumped out with rope and started descending with heavy arm loads. On the way down, his timer was beeping, reminding him as time-up.

He connected back to Intelligence team, requesting the height from him to ground. There came a prompt reply with little more than five meters. The timer amplified its frequency and Captain Dragon got no option than to jump into the air using ground landing tactics. He was thrown into a shrubs and bushes but was safe. The medical specialist told him to relax for he noticed increase in heart beats and little injury on right knee but without any major issues.

However, he was happy to hear that nothing was suspicious from the intelligence team. He got up and collected his weapons proceeding with the mission. There was not even a single time to waste as he have to complete four hundred kilometres walk in two months, identifying the best two military base. The mission was solitary and have to send rock sample and soil sample, vegetation coverage and implant a device at the best location for the review.

For five months he have to survive on his own without any food stuffs and water. The mission was under cover from globe as well from the country. Therefore, for five months no one should suspect and know about the mission. Even with the traces of imprecision, there work done and mission would be failed for other intelligence team across the globe would track every path and doings. So, until back to head quarter, nothing was assured even his life.

The journey in the jungle continued for twenty days with every comprehensive data and survey within the range of five kilo meters. Though it could be done with satellite transmissions from headquarter, it was more vulnerable and the data interpretation would be authenticated up to only eighty percent. As a result, man power was mandatory in collecting a right and precise data. Captain Dragon, on the other hand was hardworking, dedicated, smart, dangerous and kindhearted one.

The head quarter fully trust Captain Dragon and was given a full responsibilities to lead his own team Beast with treacherous solo mission, which others could not do. Oftentimes, Captain Dragon were warned by his health team to get enough sleep. He was adamant and two months planned mission got accomplished covering four hundred kilometres day and night findings in a month. There was nothing fall downs than his encounter with wild animals.

However, it was not the end for him. The first operation was successfully commissioned with another in queue at alpine region. Though it was sketched to pick him with chopper, plan didn’t work without any place for the touchdown. Captain Dragon was provided with shortest route with hundred kilometres to knock at the operation site. Without any data collection, he was able to reach at the place in a day. It was not easy for him to bear chilly weather up there.

He was above four thousand meters from the sea level in an Alpine region. The harsh weather and bad climatic conditions was delaying his operation on time. Compared to subtropical region, he was able to accomplish the mission in four months. Most of time, Captain Dragon was under hibernation in caves, relating the frequent fluctuation in weather from the head quarter. It was challenging for him to survive in those rocky cliffs. Moreover, the barren land was hard to hide from the satellite bodies.

On completion of mission after months, he trotted back down to the motor road. Naku was happy for safe return and they geared back to the B-PIT. His team back at office were all relaxed and content after six months of tiring days and nights. Captain Dragon and his team Beast was showered with token of appreciation for accomplishing a hard-hitting mission with fabulous outcome. Captain Dragon also expressed gratitude for the support in every field from every individual. Somehow, he was jovial with accomplishment of his first solo mission.

To one side, he came to know about many edible items which are known as Non-Wood Forest Products (NWFPs) in the jungle from the subtropical region with kinds of flora and fauna. On looming towards Alpine region, scenic beauty of paramount white promising mountains and wildlife of Alpine musk dear, Alpine thrush, Blue sheep etc… was welcoming and memorable one. He was able to know more about the country and its surroundings. Lobzang then and Captain Dragon now was lover of sightseeing from middle school only. He was happy to know and check out many new settings.

The mission was over but have to look into each and every data and alteration in any form detected by the device implanted in different five areas for another minimum five years. The team beast was given a vacation for a month as a token of hard work and obligation. Even so, they have to report before the vacation in case emergency and call from the head quarter. The team Beast went to celebrate with c**k-tail toss for hours in the town and were dispersed towards home. Captain Dragon was back to his rented home after longtime. For the time being, he didn’t sketch any plans for vacation and was into deep sleep for more than forty eight hours after five months in the field.
